I don't know if I'd agree. Remember Hideki Matsui ? He was the MVP of the WS and the Yankees let him walk. What does that have to do with the regular season not mattering? They are literally on record of the get in the playoffs then it's a crapshoot. Boone does rest days when it makes no sense all the time. I misread your comments. I read them to say that DJ is a proven commodity in the postseason nd they are getting him ready for the fall. DJ does have a good record of success in the playoffs, but that was a long time ago. I don't buy the idea that the playoffs are a crapshoot...and I think the stats prove they are not. Of course, maybe the Astros are just cheating !

I hate letting a game like this get away in the midst of a dead heat division race. Your ace against one of the worst pitchers in the league. You gotta have those. If you have championship aspirations you do. Maybe Soto needs to give a speech to the team explaining exactly what kind of atmosphere the Nats had in 2019 to go all the way. This team needs to learn the winning instinct from players who have been there already. I'd say Cole should give such a speech too, but stealing signs and banging barrels just isn't the Yankee's style.

Oh I meant more of it seems every year they miss a lot of sweeps they could have and it always seems to be because someone who is not good/done/etc is in there and the excuse always is "The back of their card says they'll turn it around!!!" and they never do. Curry just said on the Post game the lefties were 3 for 3 against the Nationals closer tonight yet they didn't pinch hint for DJ. Like again.. I get you have a 2 game cushion but it's August 27 not Sept 27.

A lot of teams this year have played like this it's a league wide problem so many blown games, losses to bad teams etc.

I wish Cashman would have give DJ more money per year but a lot less years. He outsmarted himself with that one. DJ was coming off 2 great seasons including a batting title in the covid season. signs the contract then slowed by injuries the next couple seasons and hasn't really gotten it back. agree would have liked fewer years but this was a guy everyone was calling "la machine". despite the years, at the time $15mil/yr seemed like a bargain and it was done that way to lessen the impact on the LT. I think DJ wanted the longer deal for less money per year for the long term security, smart man. Most of us wanted him back, but we were hoping for 4 years. The Yanks already ate a lot of dead money with Hicks and Donaldson and they're probably going have to do it with DJ too.

I don't think anyone can really fault the DJ deal he was an integral player to the 19 and 20 teams. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yea but if you see a bunch of lefties just got hits I think you go with Oswaldo there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I hope I am wrong, but their bullpen looks like it could be very good.

Any of the three would have been a better option. Against RH pitching Grisham's OPS is 691. Rice's OPS against right handers is 671. OC's is 729. DJ's is 571.
