It'll take an historic collapse to miss the playoffs. But even if they get there, the way this team is constructed the chances of going anywhere are pretty much slim & none. Yes so go put money on the Orioles, Guardians, etc who are playing just as bad the last month.

Sinker outside middle, Wells takes, 0-1 Slider brushes the corner inside, 1-1, 1-2% on Gameday not called, Wells got a small break. Slider on the corner away, fouled, 1-2
This things don't just 'get solved', Kay, unless someone solves them. Slider outside, 2-2 Slider way low outside. Should be a sinker low here on 3-2. Nope, fooled him with a slider into the top of the zone, swings under it, K. Woulda fooled me too.

Stanton takes a sinker low Sinker away, scott not playing deep, the liner to the gap, Scott lunges too late, goes past him to the wall for a double. Playing him to right of center for some weird reason too.

The Yankees are wasting a good game by Stanton.

Baker rolls over on a 1-0 FB outside to Torres, who comes in, fields, throws him out, inning finally over. Hey, guys? Bad fielding...eh. Cards have 17 freaking hits, and this is NOT a good hitting team. Bad pitching almost all day today. Soto's garbage defense alone has cost them about 7 runs. Soto was +5 RS coming into the game… not any more… 🤓

Chisholm takes a slider low/away, 1-0 Check swing foul on a sinker up and in. Sinker at the knees, he shows bunt, but oddly pulls the bat back? If you maant to bunt for a hit, Jazz, that's the pitch to do it on. Takes a slider well low and outside, 2-2 Takes another to almost the same spot, 3-2 Sinker backs up well inside, should be taken for ball 4, but he tries to golf it to the porch, fouls it. That was a clear ball 4, 6 inches inside, Jazz.

The Cubs just swept a lousy Nationals team that earlier this week took 2 out 3 against the Yanks.

Slider outside middle, fouled Takes a change down and in, ball 4. 1st and 2nd, 2 down for Rizzo, who has two big hits already today.

Takes a slider just outide, 1-0 Takes a sinker just outside, 2-0 Makes him throw a strike. Sinker above the knees, inside middle, not on the corner as Kay said. Slider into the zone low/away, taken, 2-2 Sets up a slider out of the zone here. And he throws it and it misses by plenty and Rizzo flails at it for the K, inning over. Top 8, 12-7 Cards.

Except for the 2009 team, the 21st century Yankees have been constructed mostly to contend for the division, but without 3 quality starters (which they still don't have), collapse in the playoffs. The more years go by, the more we should appreciate the 1996-2001 Yankees (even though they lost in 1997 and 2001), what they achieved, and the quality of the players the team had back then.
