I'm looking forward to Stanton's at bats. Who would've thunk it?

Stanton... Takes a FB above the knees near middle, 0-1 Takes a curve outside, 1-1 Slider stays up and away, 2-1 Raining hard again. FB at the top, Stanton under fouls it back over the screen. Slider outside middle, foul tipped into the mitt, K. Yanks haven't had a batter reach since Walker misplayed Chisholm's flyball into a cheap double in the 2nd.
Top 5, 5-2 Cards. Not exactly an easy 1-2-3 for Mikolas, 17 pitches, but nobody remotely hit a ball hard, either.
Goldschmidt, Herrera and Nootbaar for the Cards in the 5th.

Tigers lead the Sox 2-1 in the 5th in Detroit. Padres-Rays are 0-0, top 4 in Tampa. Jays lead the Twins 1-0 in the 3rd in Minnesota, O's and Rockies start in about 15 minutes at Coors.

Effross into the game, got hurt in September 2022. Sinker misses inside and up. He's basically the same guy as Leiter, I hope he can do better. Slider hits the knees in the middle, not called, bad call, 2-0, 20% on Gameday

Effross Cashman's great trade pickup a dozen years ago.

Sinker inside, pulled hard and foul, down the line. Slider away, hit hard through the right side for a leadoff single
That's fine about not pitching Goldschmidt away, Paulie, but did you not see the LOUD foul on the sinker iinside on the pitch before?

Effross Cashman's great trade pickup a dozen years ago. Actually, after a couple of bad games when he came over, he was great for about 10 games, even getting 2 saves. Then he torn the UCL and had to have TJ surgery. Herrera fouls off a sinker, takes another inside, the 3rd on on the corner inside is grounded toward the 56 hole, Volpe losing his footing but still gets it and starts a nice 6-4-3 DP, 2 down.

Donovan takes a slider inside, ball 1 Gets a FB down the middle, lines it to right for a 2 out single.

The problem is we have seen this game to long with the Yankees. They will stay with a Vet that is getting paid and not performing instead of giving someone else a chance. The Yankees aren't going to come out and say they are keeping a top prospect in the minors because they want to manipulate his ROY status for 2025 and increase their chances of grabbing an extra high draft. Cashman thinks he's some kind of genius. I think the Verdugo stuff is secondary. They'd reduce their chances in the division race and playoffs in the "all in" Soto year just on the off chance Jasson wins the ROY next year for a post 1st round pick? That may be stupider than thinking Verdugo is the better option. This front office is really something.

Walker takes a slider on the outside corner, 0-1 Efforss hangs a slider in the drop the bat happy zone, and Walker belts it into the Cardinal bullpen, 2 run HR makes it 7-2 Cards. Boone goes to lift him, Mayza coming into the game.
