Just to amplify a small point from earlier. Bethancourt is a career .231 hitter, but he's .254 against the Yanks.
It seemed he got some big hits against them for both the Astros and the Rays.

Takes a cutter well outside, 3-0
Get it over cutter taken almost down the middle, 3-1
Cutter inside ties him up, swings under it, 3-2
Takes his timeout.
Slider outer half, gets under it to shortish left of center, Judge comes in, catches, 1 down.

Takes a thigh high slider inside middle, maybe waiting for Crow-Armstrong to go, but he didn't, 0-2
Throw over, but he gets back easily.
Throw over again was much closer, but I think he got back. And he did, on replay.
He's now free to run, pitchout maybe?

Cutter high, Wells gets it off in a hurry, and that was a literally perfect, just on the right of 2nd, Torres drops the tag and they got him!! Just the 2nd CS for C-A this season.

Wow Wells!!! That's the first time PCA had been caught stealing all season, in a traditional caught stealing way. His other caught stealing is when he was picked off.

Wow, indeed, great throw and typical excellent tag by Torres. Wisdom fouls off a sweeper outside. Takes a cutter up and away, 2-2 Fouls off a sweeper on the outside corner. Fouls off a cutter about 4-5 inches outside. Misses low/away with a no-chance curve. Too far out of the zone to get a chase. |
