Being at Wrigley, in your seat is great, but everything else sucks, unless you live in Chicago and can take public transportation. Parking is terrible, making your way northside traffic to make the short trip to Lake Shore Drive isn't fun, sitting in traffic on the Dan Ryan Expressway until you get another highway that takes you to the south suburbs is a drag. It so much easier going to White Sox games. Been there a couple of times...fortunately went with relatives who lived in Chicago, so was able to use public transportation. It's been quite a while...as I recall there was an el that dropped us off right outside the ballpark, much like the 4 train to Yankee Stadium. Didn't have great seats...wasn't crazy about the sight lines. When I lived on Chicago's northside, I could just walk to the games, that was great. Yeah, the El (Redline) drops you off at the corner of Addison and Sheffield, just across the street from Wrigley. Ironically, the same train, going south has a stop at the White Sox ballpark too.

Really tired of how this team can't score if Judge is not getting on base 4 times a game and hitting 2 HR's. I swear only the Yankees can play 27 innings and give up 0 earned runs and still lose a game. With all the players coming back from injury and how the team is pitching right now if we just had a little offense I might get excited for a playoff run - especially since no one in the AL seems to be separating themselves from the pack. The Cubs do have a good pitching, plus there were heavy winds blowing in off Lake Michigan for the first two games. It's hard to hit HR's when the wind is blowing in at Wrigley.

didn't see the game. another loss but a series win against a good team. gleyber's error (actually had been fielding well lately) contributed to the 2 runs but cole could have picked him up and perhaps judge misread paredes fly ball. nonetheless 2-1 after 2 innings it's still anyone's game.
judge's (and soto to a lesser extent) struggles and the lack of offense overall continues to be a concern. 6 runs and 17 hits in 3 games doesn't cut it. duke was sent back to scranton today. hopefully the corresponding move has to be bringing dominguez up. so verdugo sits. cut the crap ...
on the other hand, the pitching was great this weekend with no earned runs and only 8 hits allowed. you could build a PS rotation around cole, gil, schmidt and rodon.
and yet as we continue to flounder, we still hold the slimmest of leads in the division as the O's also continue to tread water as either mediocrity or parity continues to rule. 3 weeks to go ...

They're bringing up Berti, who will just be another bench warmer / pinch runner.

Until recently Judge was enjoying a historic year. Other than Judge, Has anyone outperformed the back of their baseball card this year ? How many have even reached their "normal" levels ? Soto has been playing at an MVP level most of the year, but a relatively cool month has him settling down to his career norms, which are still very good. Other than that, no, nobody else is having much of a season. Wells has been playing well, but we don't know what his "norm" is yet. I guess Jazz has been far outpacing his career stats since coming over to the Yanks. I also guess technically Volpe has improved, tough the base was quite low. No one is having their career season and several guys are having "off" years. I expected more home runs from Torres and more hits from Volpe and Verdugo. And I did not expect DJ to be bad. My point is that the entire offense is disappointing. The additions of Wells and Chisholm make the lineup look better, but on balance I think the team underperformed. I know the scoring numbers are near the top, but I anticipated a team that could set records for runs scored. I am not blaming anyone, but I do think this lineup could have been better.

And Holmes looks like a closer in the 8th!!! As he did when the Yankees first traded for him.

It also didn't help that Judge hesitated on the big swing by Parades that kept him from reading it a bloop in front of him for the 2 run single, but yeah, and the offense could've helped all of them out, and didn't. IF Cole hadn't given up the leadoff double...and IF Cole hadn't walked Tauchman...Paredes would never have come to the plate.... You're both right. But I wish Torres would stop trying to backhand ground balls that in my opinion don't need to be backhanded.

Sorry you had bad luck picking the loss in the Cubs series Chi. Hope you still managed to have a good time at the ballpark. You didn't try to get Michael Kay's autograph? It's always fun at the ballpark. We didn't get a Kay autograph, we were hoping to see some "real" Yankees. At least the NFL team that you root for won.

Pitching has been great, now the bats go limp. Until recently Judge was enjoying a historic year. Other than Judge, Has anyone outperformed the back of their baseball card this year ? How many have even reached their "normal" levels ? Soto.

The weather was perfect today in Chicago for a ballgame, but too bad the Yankee bats were ice cold against former teammate Taillon. Yankee pitchers went against a hot Cubs lineup and held them to 0 earned for the entire series, so to not get the sweep was disappointing. RISP fail and bad defense in the first inning doomed them in this game. Walking back to our car we did see Michael Kay standing next to one of the Yankee team buses, outside the ballpark, signing autographs for fans, so that was nice of him. Big week coming up for the Yanks, with games against Kansas City and Boston. Wrigley Field is gorgeous. I love the whole experience there. Except for parking. Even forty-some years ago it was expensive and difficult. Maybe it's improved, I haven't been in awhile. But still worth the minor hassle. I appreciate the history of Fenway Park, but in my opinion it's not a nice looking ballpark. Wrigley Field on the other hand is a real nice looking ballpark.

For some reason he tends to play groundballs to the side, even on balls hit to his glove side, when he has plenty of time to square up.

I agree. Fenway is an amazing place, but more utilitarian than esthetic. Wrigley has the charm. Well, once you've fought the traffic and paid 50 bucks or whatever it is to park these days. It's well-known that the park was originally built for the Chicago Whales of the Federal League in 1914 and was called Weeghman Field. When the Feds folded, the Cubs bought the park. Their park before that, where they had their greatest teams (the Tinker to Evers to Chance teams) was called Westside Grounds. Not real far from where United Center is today, but south of the Eisenhower Expressway. I would love to have seen a game there. The dimensions were 314 to right, 340 to left and 560 to center. Measurements like that was why there were so many inside the park home runs in the deadball era.

Having a great year but not way beyond his career averages. And he is doing it with the benefit of hitting in front of Aaron Judge !!!
