Wells... Curve on the corner down in, not called, a break for Wells, 30% on Gameday. Change on the outside corner, taken, 1-1 Curve misses up and away, 2-1 Change below and outside middle, driven up the left center gap, hits the wall, and it's a 1-run double for Wells!!, 10-4, Yanks! Edit: forgot about the DP.

Chisholm works the count to 2-2, then misses a 90.5 FB up in the zone near middle for the K, inning over. Yanks add 3 more, lead 10-4, going top 9, and now Boone can pick any closer he likes.

8-9-1 for the Royals in the 9th: Massey, Isbel and Pham. Ian Hamilton gets a soft situation to come back to.

Stay healthy, Ian. You have swing and miss stuff when not hurt.

FB below and outside middle at 97.5, taken for a strike. FB misses down and in, 1-1 Slider/change down and in, fouled, 1-2 Humps up to 98, misses well high over the middle, 2-2 Good slider change breaks to the corner down and in, swung over for the K, 1 down. Looks good, so far.

Isbel can't check in time on the slider-change just inside at the knees. FB to the high outside corner, he checks on that one, but it hits the bat, fouled, 0-2. Flies open on a sinker, misses way up and away, 1-2. Sinker yanked inside makes him spin a bit, 2-2 Slider below the knees, in the middle, rolled over to 2nd, Cabrera fields, throws him out, 2 down.

judge grounds into a DP. run scores. strangely volpe in to run for gleyber. usually you don't pinch run for torres. I believe they did it in one of the Texas games. The idea might be to get a better glove (Cabrera) in at 2B in the 9th.

Pham takes a slider bounced outside, ball 1. Slider drops into the top outside corner, but not called, 2-0 95% on Gameday so...bad call. Slider brushes the bottom of the zone in middle, called a strike, 10% on Gameday, so it's even? Slioder to the knees, outer half, taken, 2-2 Slider hangs inside middle, Pham misses late and under, pops it to right, Soto ambles in and toward the line a bit, catches, game over. Yanks win rally from down 1 run twice, win 10-4, breaking it open late, and get back to 22 games over .500, 83-61 with 18 games left on the schedule. Their 3rd win in 4 games. Sox beat the O's 12-3. Phillies beat the Rays, 2-1. Mets beat the Jays, 3-2. Yanks now lead the O's by 1 1/2 games, the Sox by 10, the Rays by 12, and the Jays by 15 1/2. Magic number for a playoff spot is down to And the magic number for the division title is down to

Nice win. Rodon was shaky, but didn't let it get out of hand. Bullpen solid again. Bats woke up big. On to the next one.

after a rocky start due to some shoddy defense, a very happy ending. rodon certainly pitched well enough to win. 9 Ks in 6 innings. 2 bad pitches that wound up in the seats.
finally the offense woke up after a couple sleepy games.
potg - gonna go w wells. his 3-run HR broke open a tie game. drove in another run w a double. rodon certainly deserves a mention for another solid outing. verdugo honorable mention as he sends a message to boone - i'm playing. his 2-run HR gave us a short lived lead. judge had a solid game as well w 2 hits and a walk. despite the pop fly debacle, gleyber had 3 hits and an rbi. soto on base 4 out 5 times. a good day in yankeeland.

Nice win. Rodon was shaky, but didn't let it get out of hand. Bullpen solid again. Bats woke up big. On to the next one. Rodon made mistakes on the 2 home run balls, but he was pretty good I thought. Didn't deserve the other two runs he gave up and should've gotten the win if not unlucky.
