Analytically speaking, that's...un-good. And good evening, pres, such as things are against Lugo. I'm surprised it's the low. Seems like he gets roughed up almost every time out. He only gave up 1 ER in his first 6 starts. Since then basically garbage. |

Chisholm chases a change outside, knee high, 0-1
Curve clips the edge of the zone, waist high, Chisholm doesn't like the call, but 5% on Gameday.
Curve stays outside, 1-2
Bounces the elite curve over home, Chisholm chases, K's, inning over.
Top 8, 4-0 Royals.
16 pitches for Lugo in the 7th, and 105 through 7. Maybe he's done. I dunno.
Renfroe, Massey and DeJong for the Royals in the 8th.

Fb in the middle below the knees, Renfroe goes does and his it a looper that falls in front of Dominguez for a leadoff single.

Blanco pinch runs for Renfroe.
1st pitch sinker low, Blanco goes, and a great diving stop by Torres on the wide throw to prevent the error. Blanco steals 2nd.
Sinker on the outside corner, 1-1
Rizzo coming right in expecting a bunt
Mayza steps off.
Swings over a thigh high sinker, 1-2
Sinker near middle, fouled
Bounces a sinker, Blanco with a huge jump, Wells needs a beat to scoop it, but Makes a perfect throw on the bag, the ball beat the runner but not the tag, stolen base.
Yanks pull the infield in to "protect" the 4-run deficit.
All for nothing, sinker on the corner away and up, lined to deep right, Soto goes back and catches, can do nothing about Blanco scoring, sac fly, 5-0 Royals.

Runner goes, sinker outside corner, swung on and missed, Wells throws without even getting up all the way, a strike to Torres on the right side of 2nd, well in time to get DeJong for the K/CS DP to end the inning.
Bottom 8, 5-0 Royals. Let's see who comes in to relieve Lugo.

Why is Mayza on this team? Because Cashman badly bungled the bullpen this year? Hell, I don't know. The guy had an 8.03 ERA in 35 appearances for Toronto before they cut him loose. |
