Next time the Yankees blowout a team, don't bother turning your sets on for the next game...The Yanks will get blown out themselves. Frustrating, but this team has no "killer instinct" for sweeping a series. Not that it was a lefty tonight but I think a lot of the non sweeps was because of that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Torres takes a sinker down the middle, 0-1 Slider starts at Torres, hits the inside corner, but Torres swings under it anyway, 0-2 Sinker low, outer 3rd, no chase, 1-2 FB above and outside middle, fouled Schreiber was great for the Sox against the Yanks, several key games. Slider misses low, outer 3rd, but not by much, 2-2 Gameday says 5-10% Sinker just below where that slider went, taken, 3-2 Torres takes his timeout. Backs the sinker over the outside corner, Torres thought it missed, argues a bit, but it didn't. That was a strike, 20-25% on Gameday.

Soto swings over a slider to the knees, inner 3rd, 0-1 Bounces a sinker outside corner, 1-1 Swings under a cutter in the middle maybe at the edge of the top of the zone, 1-2 Takes his timeout. Tries to check on a change dropping well low in the middle, 3rd base ump rings him up, and it was a swing. K. 2 down.

Judge takes a cutter outside, 1-0 Takes a slider well low in the middle, 2-0 Takes a cutter below and inside middle, and sort of a hanger. Stared at it. Takes his timeout. Takes a sinker well low, middle of the plate, 3-1 Now you know how off Judge is Down by 5, 3-1 count, FB just inside middle middle, and he's late and under, fouls it off, 3-2 FB outside corner, waist high, foul tipped, Fermin can't hold it. Slider at the knees in the middle, Judge late and under again, popped to short right, Pham comes in and catches, game over.
Yanks lose, 5-0, and drop back to 21 games over .500 at 83-62 with 17 games left on the schedule. Magic number will not decrease tonight. Tigers had the same number of losses as the Red Sox, so even though the Sox are losing, the Tigers don't lose ground. If the O's win, the Yanks lose a game there.

Paperback Schreiber writes the epitaph to this game by getting Judge to fly out to right. Zero for eight with four strikeouts tonight for Soto and Judge.

That was gross. 🤮
This team just cannot seem to sustain any positive momentum. A nice game or two is immediately followed by a stinker or two. I guess it could be worse, at least they haven't nosedived.

Judge looks like he's where he was in April...fouling off pitches he crushed every other month.

Judge and Soto both seemed to hit a wall at the same time. Neither of them has been particularly productive for a couple of weeks now. Really need them to get going again.

Not much to say about this one, Lugo and the two relievers shut them down cold. Stroman did what he usually does, pitched a credible 5+ innings. Royals ran a lot, led to 2-3 of their runs.
Rubber game is tomorrow at 7:07 on Prime Video. A very tough lefty, Cole Ragans, starts for the Royals. He's 11-9, 3.35 ERA, 2nd in the AL with 204 K's, and throws upper 90's, 1-2 with Skubal for the best lefty in the league, will be top 5 in the Cy Young voting, I think. Yanks offense has its work cut out for them. Luis Gil for the Yanks; he's 13-6 with a 3.24 ERA and pitched an outstanding 6 innings in his first start off the IL against the Cubs last time out.
OK, gonna make a quick check on notifications.

I know some will say something about other teams but this group just cannot sustain anything positive. A below .500 team over a very long stretch here. The offense seems all or nothing and the pitching extremely inconsistent. Most ugly is the some complete garbage that they keep trotting out of this bullpen.

this is not a new phenomenon for the Yankees. Twenty years ago I used to dread 6 plus ERA pitchers because we would be sure to struggle

What a dreadful game offensively and the Stadium was lifeless.
On a better note we had Legends seats row 8 behind home plate with all the food and trimmings. I've never had lobster, duck, and shrimp at a ball game. Absolutely incredible. Desserts and ice cream bar was to die for and I ended with Espresso and Cappuccino. Behind the back row tubs of water and soda. Huge difference between Legends and regular seats with a $15 beer abd $19 hot dog.
