Rizzo gets a 1-1 change to the knees, lifts a fly to medium deep right center, but Duran gets to it, 1 down.

FB in the zone below and outside middle, fouled back. FB waist high, outside corner, blows it by him for the K, inning over. Another good inning for Weaver, and against the heart of the Sox' order. Bottom 8, 5-4 Yanks. 20 pitches for Weaver, striking out the side around Yoshida's single. Rizzo, Volpe and Verdugo for the Yanks in the 8th, looking for an insurance run. Or 4. So who pitches the 9th? |

Takes a FB outside by 3 inches, called strike 3 anyway, Verdugo argues, and he's right, 0% on Gameday, and not close, really.
Yanks go 1-2-3 on just 9 pitches.
Top 9, 5-4 Yanks, and it looks like Weaver will start the 9th, at least.
He'll face the Sox 7-8-9, Casas, Story and Rafaela, if he can stay in there. He can be lifted at any time that Boone wants; the 3-man rule doesn't apply to a 2nd inning of pitching.
