Gonzales has never faced Kahnle, but if they PH Valdez for him, he's 0-2 with 1 BB vs. Kahnle.

WTF Boone should have started the inning with the more experienced Kahnle. Honestly, I would have kept in Holmes. He struck out O'Neill on three pitches and was throwing strikes. When Holmes is in the strike zone, I would keep him in the game. |

Change to the outside corner thigh high, grounded right to Volpe on the left of 2nd, he races in to the bag, steps on it, fires to 1st just ahead of Duran for a 6-6-3 DP, ending the game!!!
Yanks double up the speedy lefty Duran twice in a row to get out of jams!
Yanks win 5-2, getting back to 24 games over .500 at 87-73, with 12 games left to play, and win the series from the Sox, 3 games to 1!

I said in yesterday's thread that Duran is very hard to double up, and before the last two at bats, he had grounded into just 4 double plays all year in 680 plate appearances and 622 at bats. Impressive work by Volpe on the two double plays to kill two rallies.
