Bleday swings over a cutter high, Butler goes and beats the throw, now 16 for 16 stealing bases.
Slider in the zone, outer 3rd, thigh high, he's late and under, pops it high just off 3rd, Chisholm catches, 2 down.

Curve in the zone down and in, pulled hard through the left side for a hit, Butler rounds 3rd and scores, and Verdugo fires over the cutoff man, no chance to get Butler, and Langeliers gets to 2nd on the mental mistake throw home, 1-0, A's.

Butler gets a cutter on the outer 3rd, rolls it over to Chisholm, fields and throws him out, inning over.
Top 5, 1-0 A's.
13 pitches for Cole in the 4th, 46 through 4.
Chisholm, Stanton and Rizzo for the Yanks in the 4th.

Chisholm guesses FB, chases a change diving low and outside, 0-1
Another change gets a small piece of the low outside corner, takes it, 0-2
Comes up and in with the FB as he did last time to Chisholm with 2 strikes, but he takes it
Tries to back it up with a sinker to the inside corner up and in, but that misses inside as well, 2-2
Slider stays up in the zone, outer half, waist high, but he misses, fouling it off, tried to pull it for the HR.
Jams him with a sinker inside, soft bouncer toward the normal shortstop position, but Schuemann playing way off the line, cuts it off throws him out, 1 down.

Stanton gets a break on the 1st pitch, sinker hits the top of the zone in the middle, not called, 50-50, 1-0
Backs the sinker over the outside corner, taken, 1-1
Sinker up and in ties him up, swings under it, 1-2
Sinker outside corner, best pitch he'll get, fouls it back.

Slider maybe misses just high, outer 3rd, 3-1. Gameday says 0-1%, so very marginal.
Takes his timeout.
Perfect spot.
Slider drops into the high inside corner, Rizzo pulls his hands back, takes it for a strike.
Gets away with it; sinker clips the bottom of the zone, not called, Rizzo gets a big break, 10-20% on Gameday not called, ball 4.

Would it be insulting to bench Stanton for the playoffs, and slot in Dominguez for those games? Even a talented inexperienced rookie will do better than someone constantly fishing (and missing) for sliders and fastballs way outside the zone.
