Rizzo takes a slider low and outside, ball 1. Sinker inside corner ties him up a bit, he pulls it foul, 1-1 Sinker below and outside middle, popped foul off 3rd, but it just gets out of play, 1-2 Bad chases on a slider in the dirt outside, K, inning over. Looks like he caught it clean on replay, doesn't even attempt to tag Rizzo. Whatever, that's a K, and the Yanks fail to tack on more insurance runs. Three run lead going to the bottom of the 9th, 7-4 Yanks. Weaver will start the inning, I think, and he's due to face Wilson, then back to the top for Butler and Rooker, who get their last shot at the Yanks this series, unless something bad happens.

Great, Verdugo was hitting instead of Dominquez. No reason to substitute Verdugo. Lame. Verdugo was in for defense in the 8th with a 2 run lead, and in truth, he's the better defender.

Wilson... FB inside, fouled, 0-1 FB on the high outside corner, also fouled, 0-2 Cutter on the outside corner, popped toward the line in right, Soto fights the sun, runs over late, catches, 1 down.

Butler misses a FB waist high, near the corner away, 0-1. That one at 96.7. Flies open a bit, misses up and away with a FB, 1-1 FB barely clips the outside corner above the waist, 1-2, 20% on Gameday. FB flies up and away, 2-2 Change tails well outside, he swing inside and early, K, 2 down.

Rooker... FB outside corner near the top, fouled off, 0-1 Change just outside middle, he misses under it, pops to shortish left, Verdugo camps under it, catches, game over!! Yanks win 7-4 and 1) Sweep their first series in nearly 3 months, since they swept Philly in Philly at the end of June. 2) Finish the last road trip of the year, a late season West Coast trip at 5-1 3) Win their 3rd straight and 12th in the last 16 games. 4) Finish their season on the road at 50-31. 5) Finally get back to their season-high 28 games over .500 at 92-64 with 6 games left (last time the were 28 over was the Verdugo in Fenway game, June 14th) 6) Increase the lead over to the O's to 6 full game with 6 to play, meaning... 7) The Magic Number for the divisional title is down to... (No, not Thurman on the left. I had to use my first favorite, my avatar, and this was all I could find.)

that's 9 of 11 to open up a 2 1/2 game for the league as we go 5-1 on the trip.
didn't see enough to make any calls but looks like gil had a "decent" start. solid inning by hill and 5 outs from our super closer. the guy's confidence has grown in leaps & bounds. actually looks cocky out there. remember when we got him, folks were moaning & groaning calling it another cashman dumpster dive. wrong ...
kay said judge was potg so will go with that. a HR (etu shohei) and on base 4 out of 5. dominguez' 2-run HR got us on the board. gleyber continues to thrive in the lead-off spot joining the HR parade. stanton & wells also w rbis.
day off before we win the division on tuesday :-)
