Mountcastle takes a FB low/away, ball 1. Swings over a slider knee high, middle, 1-1 Misses a thigh high FB in the middle, 1-2 Bounces a slider over home, 2-2 And right after Paulie says "you can't use that breaking ball low because it's got too much break", Beeter starts a slider thigh high, it drops low near the outside corner and Mountcastle swings over it for the K. To use that slider low in the zone, you have to be able to command it well enough to make it look like a strike coming in. If it looks like it's low out of the hand, well...THAT'S unusable.
O's add 4, knock out Stroman, lead 7-1, going bottom 4.
Stanton, Chisholm and Dominguez for the Yanks in the 4th.

It doesn't look good if Yankees have difficulties taking Orioles to task. Getting hot at the right time is an important factor heading toward post season baseball.

This team will be 43-45 in the last 88 after this mess. Their inconsistency at this point should be no surprise.

Jays lead the Red Sox, 2-0 in the 5th. Tigers lead the Rays 3-1, top 6. Marlins lead the Twins 3-0 in the 3rd. Royals lead the Nats, 3-0 in the 7th. Indians lead the Reds, 2-1 in the 7th. M's crushed the Astros, 8-1, earlier today. Mets and Braves hurricaned out tonight and tomorrow, make-up double header in Atlanta on Monday.

Stanton falls behind 1-2, dribbler up 3rd is a hit for some, for Stanton, it means he's thrown out by 10 feet, not 20.

Chisholm gets ahead, 2-1, pulls a change outside middle, hard to 1st, but Mountcastle fields, flips to Eflin, beats him to the bag, 2 outs.

Might want to check back in the 4th.... So...you're calling the game now? I know last night it was called after 6...guessing there were a few here breathing a sigh of relief when Yanks came up short. Remember the comeback Yankees from a few years ago? I can't remember how many games they came back in, but it was a lot. I couldn't name even 1 game the Yankees came back from this year, losing by 5 or more runs...not that I don't wish they would, I'm just calling it as I see it...unless they put up a bunch of runs early, and they have Cole or Rodon pitching, this Yankee team doesn't know how to come back.

I'm going nowhere...but so are the Yankees, apparently for this game. I think there's a psychological term for your condition. Starts with an "M"... It starts with an "R"...REALISTIC.

Stanton is another one I wish I didn’t have to see again. Horrible contract for a DH who misses a billion games and puts up mediocre numbers.

I know you have be following this team all year. I think they have only come back from being 4 down twice.. It's now 7-1.. What do you think? Seriously.. I think it ain't over 'til it's over. I also know it's very easy to criticize when things aren't going well...which seems to be the primary purpose of these game threads. I also know the same posters who point fingers, criticize & trash players during bad times are the same ones who jump on the bandwagon when things are going well.

Dominguez takes a curve for a strike in the zone low/away. Takes a curve outside, 1-0 Change above the knees near middle, hits a fliner to right, but no trouble for Santander, inning over.
Eflin appears to be rolling now, 7 in a row retired since Torres' flyout ended the 2nd. 12 pitch 1-2-3 and 60 through 4. O'Hearn, Urias and Mullins for the O's in the 5th.

Comebacks from 5 or more runs down are fairly rare, but your point is taken.

Yeah...you remember when the game "was the real game"...back when rotary phones and typewriters were high tech. Yet...you still watch, and complain??
