Another hangover loss for the pinstripers. Let's all take this chance to thank the hated Houston Astros for beating the Guardians tonight, allowing the Yankees to back pedal into the best record of the American League this season. Thanks cheaters, without your help, tonight's baseball experience would've meant nothing.

O-Cab... Misses a sinker on the corner away, 0-1 Misses a 100 sinker in the zone low/away, 0-2 Misses a sinker at 102, outside corner above the waist, good morning, good afternoon, good....bye.
Cabrera K's and the Yanks lose a lifeless affair, 4-2. Fall back to 26 over .500 at 93-67. After that low effort game from the Yanks, I'll be doing a low-effort job on the post-game.
Rodon was OK, not much more, gave up back to back HR to blow the only lead he was given. Kahnle was bad as well. Reynolds had a big game for the Pirates Santand and Chapman got their big vengeance, whoop-de-damn-doo, guys. Hope you got your tee-times for Tuesday all set.

The same Santana the Yankees DFA'd earlier this season shuts the Yankees down in the 8th. Hey, when you have a chance to pick up a Duke Ellis, you gotta move somebody.

Missing out on a big inning early in the game came back to bite us.

well chapman looked good ...
not our best lineup. rest day for a couple players and no one really picked up the slack. houston beating cleveland so our magic # drops to 1.
good game for jazz. drove in both runs, had 2 hits and a couple steals (#40). couple of our whopping 6 hits sprinkled through the lineup. 4-7 hitless. neither verdugo or dominguez made a statement.
rodon not his best stuff but good enough.

Tigers won and White Sox lost; Tigers clinch a Wild Card, White Sox clinch the record for losses in a season. Astros leading the Guaradians 5-0 in the 9th, if that score holds, Yanks magic number for home field in the AL playoffs will be down to one Houston holds the lead. Orioles lead the Twins, 3-0 in the 7th, if the Twins lose, they're eliminated.
Royals lost to the Braves, 3-0; Mets are losing to the Brewers 6-2 in the 6th in Milwaukee. If those scores hold, the two team are in a flat-footed tie with 4 games to play. Padres helping the Mets out, leading the D'backs, 4-1 in the 1st, if that score holds, the Braves and Mets will both be 1/2 game ahead of the D'Backs for the 2nd and 3rd wild cards.
Hmmm...with the Tigers clinching that spot, I think the Royals clinch as well, because even if they lose all three to the Braves, and the Mariners win all 3 from the A's, and both teams wind up 85-77, they tied the season's series, 3-3 and I think the Royals have the 2nd tiebreaker, which is Intradivisional record, even if they're not in the same division. The Royals are 33-19 in the Central, and even if the M's sweep the A's, the M's wind up 32-20 in the West. The playoff spot will be won because the Mariners went 6-1 vs. the White Sox, and the Royals were 12-1. It's not official on MLB.com yet, but I think that's correct.
And the Yanks loss locks up home field for the World Series for Ohtani and his Dodgers, should the Yanks get there. The Phils lost, so the Yanks trail them by 1 game in that head to head, If they tie the Yanks have the tiebreaker.
And that's it for the post-season picture,

OK, game 2 is tomorrow at 1:07 pm.
Uberrookie Paul Skenes starts for Pittsburgh, he's 11-3 with a 1.99 ERA, as dominant as any pitcher in MLB. Luis Gil starts for the Yanks; he's 15-6 with a 3.27 ERA and coming off a poor game vs. the A's.
OK, short preview done, I'll check notifications...

It was stupid to rest Judge for a couple of reasons The personal goals are important to him whether he says it or not And The Yankees havent clicnhed the #1 seed
If they had played Judge and clinched last night they could have rested him until the playoffs if they wanted to Now they have Skenes and likely will lose that matchup and if Cleveland Wins ...now there is pressure to win tomorrow
Just makes no sense

Judge himself hinted that he was taking a day off on Thursday night, after they clinched the division.
