Slider low, Judge lays off, 3-1 FB outside middle, fouls it off. Sigh. FB about 3-4 inches outside at 101. Judge chases for the K and the Platinum Sombrero.

Slider on the low inside corner not called, 40% on Gameday, Wells got a break there, 1-0 FB up in the zone taken, 1-1 FB outside corner, he's late and under, fly to left is right near Cook, he catches, game over.
Yanks lose again, 9-4, their 4th loss in 5 games, dropping to 25 over at 93-68. Miserable game all around.
Bad pitching, no offense until the 6th, then multiple rallies blown, and the Yanks have no answers for the mighty Pirates hitting machine.

OK, again nothing much to say. Gil didn't have it, Skenes was immensely impressive, and if his right arm stays attached he's a Hall of Fame candidate. Absurd to say after just 5 months in the majors, and very high risk because EVERY pitcher who throws as hard as he does eventually blows out the shoulder or elbow, but it's a valid assessment of his current talents.
Yanks blew multiple rallies in the late innings. Beaten soundly by a mediocre to poor Pirates team.
One more game tomorrow, then we wait for the ALDS next weekend.
Tall, high extension, mediocre stuff deceptive lefty Bailey Falter goes for the Pirates as they go for the sweep. He's 8-9 with a 4.26 ERA, and 2 good starts in his last 3 games. Clarke Schmidt tries one last time for his first win since coming off the IL with a lat strain. He's 5-5 on the season with a 2.55 ERA, and is 0-2 with a 2.61 ERA with 26 K and 6 BB in 20 2/3 innings in the 4 starts since he returned.
OK, preview done, a last check of notifications.

I gotta say. Sorry, but it's kind of annoying to read the negative post season posts for a team that so far has the best record in the American league. I gotta wonder why some negative Yankee fans even bother watching the Yankees play.

Rizzo has a fracture. That stinks.
I wonder if the Yankees will promote Rice or Rumsfield?

If you want Soto's bat, the glove, the legs and the smarts, or occasional lack thereof, come with it. Soto is a great httier...but he ain't a great ballplayer. Sort of how Ted Williams was the best hitter of his generation but Joe D. was the best ballplayer. For half a billion, I want a great ballplayer. The difference is that the game of the 1940s and 1950s didn't have a DH. This game does, and that's Soto's home, eventually.

Rizzo has a broken hand. That's not great. Does that mean DJ returns? I hope not but fear he will.

Cards won it all in 2006 on an 83-win season.
