Can someone explain to me why they keep sending down Effross ? Isn't he supposed to an important piece to the bullpen?

Rice takes a slider high, ball 1.
Takes a waist high FB, outer half, 1-1
Takes a FB down and in, 2-1
FB above middle, fouled, 2-2
Change to the knees, fouled off.
FB in the zone up and away at 96, spoiled.
Same pitch on the corner up and away, fouled off again.
Swings over a change near middle for the K, inning over.
Top 5, 4-3 Yanks.
2-3-4 for the Pirates in the 5th: Reynolds, Cruz and Bart.

Can someone explain to me why they keep sending down Effross ? Isn't he supposed to an important piece to the bullpen? They might call him back up if they go with just four starters and Stroman as the long man. This doesn't set the playoff roster, just want to wait to see if they have to IL Rizzo, which they'll probably wait until the last moment to do. |

Takes a sinker high, called a strike anyway, missed by 2-3 inches on Gameday, bad call, 0-1
Cutter misses outside at the top, 1-1
Sinker well outside, 3-1
Sinker misses just low near middle, 3-1
Slider barely brushes the back door, 3-2. 5-10% on Gameday.
Curve well down and in, ball 4.
And it looks like Schmidt will not get that 1st W off the IL. Boone takes him out to bring in Conflagration Leiter.
Who's actually pitched well his last two game,s believe it or don't.

Leiter gets ahead, 0-2, but it's now 3-2 on Bart.
Splitter low in the middle, but not low enough, and he rips it into the corner in left for a RBI double, Cruz to 3rd, still nobody out, game tied at 4.
