we could have a subway series for the first time since 2001. Kind of scary that was that long ago, time goes by fast when you get older (non-Einsteinian time dilation).

Obv one series at a time, but this is what you want if you are the Yankees. West coast teams are annoying with the travel and stuff. Plus Mets can only make these 9th inning comebacks so many times...

dodgers win game 5 2-0. dodgers/mets for the NL championship. darvish was great but yamamoto just a little better in a battle of japanese starters.
dodger pitching shut out the padre offense (which looked pretty scary to me) for the 2nd straight game and a total of 24 consecutive scoreless. tonite was the hernandez' show with both kiki and teoscar hitting HRs accounting for the only 2 runs in the game. 5 scoreless for yamamoto and the dodger pen has been just as dominant as ours.
dodgers/mets should be a war. rooting for the mets for a possible subway series.

Congratulations to the "no class" Los Angeles Dodgers, who just beat the Padres 2-0 to win the NLDS and face the Mets on Sunday.
During the live interview on Fox national television immediately after the game, Dodgers' Kike Hernandez' quote, when asked "what makes this Dodgers team different?"
Kike Hernandez: "Are we live?"
Announcer: "Yes!"
Kike: "The fact that we don't give a fuck!"
Thank you Mr. Hernandez, for showing the class the Dodgers well represent. It makes me feel that much greater being a Yankees fan, knowing you guys earned the nickname "Dem Bums!"

Looks like the Padres could have used a hitter like Juan Soto tonight.

Looks like the Padres could have used a hitter like Juan Soto tonight. Just tonight? They were shut out for the last what, 21 innings of the series?

I want Judge vs Ohtani head to head for the Championship but Subway Series would be great.

personally don't care, but yeah surprised kike got the "don't give a fuck" comment through the network censures. those usually operate on a delay for something like that.

I want Judge vs Ohtani head to head for the Championship but Subway Series would be great. Let's first concentrate on whoever wins tomorrow's final ALDS game between Cleveland and Detroit.

I did not stay tuned for the postgame. If Hernandez did it the way it is reported in this thread, Manfred should suspend him for the postseason.

The Mets are the only team left standing that used 3 starters to get them there. The Mets starting trio of Severino, Quintana and Manea each logged ten innings or more so far. The Yankees only used Cole that much, the Tigers Skubal and the don't have anyone. The bulk of starts are fewer than 5 innings. What are we seeing ? An interesting note is that all three Mets pitchers are free agents after the season.

Thank you Mr. Hernandez, for showing the class the Dodgers well represent. It makes me feel that much greater being a Yankees fan, knowing you guys earned the nickname "Dem Bums!" If I remember correctly, that nickname was a lovable nickname the Brooklyn Dodger fans gave to the Brooklyn Dodgers. Not sure if that nickname followed them to LA. The Brooklyn Dodger fans that I knew wouldn't give the LA Dodger franchise the time of day. Most of them either became Yankee fans or Met fans.
