I'm not in favor of this long of a layoff unless we really have someone nursing an injury. A few days rest to heal and refresh is fine but not over a week.

Maybe the Yanks should've tanked so they could've started playing yesterday...

Maybe the Yanks should've tanked so they could've started playing yesterday... As mentioned in another thread, I'm not fond of MLB postseason format. In my opinion, the top team should always play the weaker team in the 2nd round. The 2nd round games should have started either on Thursday or Friday. 1 or no days off for teams playing in the 1st round might give them more incentive to win home field during the regular season.

Game 3 (if necessary) of the WC Series is scheduled for Thursday. Makes sense to me for there to be a travel day between that and the start of the Division Series. Frankly, I don't see the big deal in Yanks having 5 days off from the end of the season.

I don't know how to feel about that! I've always liked Kay...a true Yankee fan who's not an obnoxious "homer". I have no problem with him doing post season games...he referenced it earlier in the game.

We can bark, piss, and moan about it, but it changes nothing. Play ball…

Teams having 5 days off is a bit much, and the wildcard games should have been scheduled Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday if a 3rd game was necessary. No travel day for teams that didn't have the top 2 won loss records.

I was just surprised to hear him call a game the Yanks aren't playing in.

Maybe he needs to cut his work schedule back a bit.

the 5 days off isn't ideal so you do what you can to stay sharp. both soto & judge also had sunday off, so it's 6 for them. but didn't realize they also have sunday and then tuesday off. that really sux. agree w the dog about rhythm. once you get going, you wanna keep going. the only positive is with the starters (only need 3) and the pen will be well rested.

The playoff schedule is bad. So someone please suggest something better. It is not easy.

The playoff schedule is bad. So someone please suggest something better. It is not easy. How about no more divisions (the way it was originally), only with the amount of teams MLB now has? 15 teams in the American League, and 15 teams in the National League. Only the teams finishing with the best record in each league finish first, and their reward is that they'll play in the World Series. In other words, Yankees vs. Dodgers (as it should've been all along)....but of course, the trillionaire owners would never stand for that...not when they can make more money out of the fan base of teams that don't belong in the playoffs in the first place (can anyone say Tigers and Mets), that no longer need to work hard for 6 months, and who can just get hot at the end, so they may end up with an undeserved championship ring (can anyone say the Marlins, in 1997 and 2003; the Anaheim Angels, in 2002; the Boston Red Sox, in 2004; the St. Louis Cardinals, in 2011; the San Francisco Giants, in 2014; the Washington Nationals, in 2019; and the Texas Rangers, in 2023). Let's face it, the World Series championship title has become a joke, where anyone can win it, without earning it, since these formats basically render the regular MLB season as "meaningless."
