Pitching coach goes out to tell Wacha to give Soto nothing with Judge on deck. Thats Verdugo up. Then Gleyber. THEN Soto. Yeah, I figured that out. Don't know why I thought Soto was up after Cabrera. |

Perez misses a cutter in the zone low and away. Takes a curve above middle, 0-2 Curve below the knees, lifted to right center, Judge calls off Soto, catches, inning over. Bottom 5, 3-2 Royals. 15 pitch 1-2-3 for Cole, 78 through 5. Top of the order for the Yanks, Torres, and then SOTO AND JUDGE.  |

Nice job by Cole in the fifth. Still not sharp as he was his last couple starts, but he made some better pitches to get ahead that inning.

I have no idea why in heck MLB scheduled the day off between games 1 and 2, with both games in the Bronx, and not between 2 and 3, when the teams have to travel to KC.

Gleyber saved by the ump on that one pitch but he takes advantage and walks.

Torres takes a cutter high and outside, 1-0
Takes a change well high, 2-0
Cutter to the knees, outside middle, taken, 2-1
Same pitch a couple of inches further outside, taken again, 2-2
Gets a huge break, sinker backs to the corner outside, not called, 60% on Gameday, bad call.
Change inside near the top, pulled hard but foul off 3rd.
Sinker above and outside middle, he tries to go to right again, but fouls it off.
Change in the zone up and in, popped foul over the screen back of home.
Torres putting up a good at bat here, whatever happens.
Change misses the high inside corner, too high, and Torres lays off, ball 4.
And that's it for Wacha, they'll bring a lefty for Soto-Judge-Wells.
Hard thrower Zerpa into the game.
