Oof, that could have been a disaster for first time at 1B Berti. Ill advised throw. Some bad luck this inning. Let's see if Rodon can keep it together.

Witt... Takes a bounced change, ball 1. Beats him clean with a FB up and in at 98, 1-1 Bounces a change near the corner inside, 2-1 Slider on the corner inside, below the waist, bounced to 3rd, tags Hampson coming down, but it takes took long, force play. I don't think he gets the 5-4-3 against Witt even if he goes that way. 1st and 2nd, 2 down for Pasquantino.

According to MLB processing the 3-1 to Berti 0.148 feet inside. That equals about 1.78 inches. MLB grades their umpires with a 2 inch margin of error, so oddly that 3-1 pitch will be judged as a correct call. I personally think 2 inches is too much of a margin for MLB level (and honestly, the inside corner should be a plate umpire's most accurate.

FB 6 inches high above middle, ball 1. FB up a bit above the zone, fouled off, 0-2. Rodon throwing hard now, 97-8 almost every FB. Rodon looks in, steps off, forces Garcia back to 2nd. Wooooooooo! Lucky! Runners go, Fb waist high, inner 3rd, lined hard but right at Soto for the 3rd out. Royals hit Rodon pretty hard that inning, Yanks lucky to escape with no runs there.
Bottom 3, 0-0. Top of the order for the Yanks in the 3rd: Torres, Soto and Judge.

Thought it was inside, still think so. Almost the same as the pitch before. Good evening, nw.
