Kay really ripping the team on the post game. Flaherty didn't like Jazz in an interview said they had some bad hitting luck today. Kay said he didn't feel like they were hitting anything hard and didnt know what Jazz was talking about. sometimes you win games you shouldn't (like game 1) and other times you lose games you should win. last nite the royals beat us. they had the one good inning and their pitching made it stand up.
haven't heard either kay or flaherty's post-game comments. and yeah we didn't produce when we had men on base but did think we were hitting the ball "hard" - just right at 'em or just not hard enough and they made good plays.
according to game day, we had 15 hard hit (95+) balls (8 in the last 4 innings). stanton & volpe had 3. berti, verdugo & wells had 2. 5 were for hits and 10 resulted in 12 outs. that's 12 out of 19 outs. not a stat i follow but "seems" a high percentage. so maybe there's some truth in what jazz said about being "unlucky". love his enthusiasm and confidence. what i didn't like about his comment was that he said the royals were "lucky". you just don't go there.
the royals did have a similar number of hard hits (14). the difference was that they were able to string a number of them together w men on base in one inning - something we didn't do. unlucky, good or bad - we have to do better. and of course we need judge & soto to be judge and soto.

Look we've seen plenty of terrible Yankee playoff games where they look lost and defeated. Last night was not one of those and as you said in your post the stats back that up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

...maybe there's some truth in what jazz said about being "unlucky". love his enthusiasm and confidence. what i didn't like about his comment was that he said the royals were "lucky". I've found it's best to use the word "fortunate" rather than "lucky" in most cases. I think that's probably what Jazz meant.

A good thing I have found is just to use the ignore function on posters who insist on going after you personally. Speaking as another poster who got tired of being called negative because they disagreed with the decisions of senior management at the Yankees Justifiable objective criticism is one thing...constant whining and repetitious trashing of specific players another. Stanton can't run...no kiddin'.

I hope Jazz's comment about the Royals getting lucky doesn't spark that team in KC.

they need a true DH or one more decent hitter What is a true DH? Stanton had 27 HR's and 72 RBI's in just 417 at bats. That's actually good production from a DH. It's not Ohtani or Alvarez production but it's still good. I have been pretty quiet about Stanton recently and just accepted him for what he is. It just has been a glaring weakness in this with 3 crucial spots not being able to run. If someone can't do the job in crunch time someone else has to. Hard to give someone 4 at bats knowing they have a glaring weakness just hoping he can get hold of one. Just need to hope these guys figure it out. Everyone needs to step up and turn this around. We can't go out like this again.

I am really not liking all these days off. Just want to see them get right back out there and play.

"No contribution from Aaron Judge in Game 1" Costas just said, forget the great running catch he made in left-center, which probably would have been a triple since it was Witt Jr. at the plate. My guess that there was also no mention if the ball Witt hit (397 feet)would have been either a HR or off the wall in a couple of other stadiums.

someone finally puts a ball in play as stanton shatters his bat. opportunity lost Because of 2 unproductive outs.

Judge is in a real funk. Counting the last game of the Pirates series, 8 Ks all of which looked really bad. Yep. Some of his swings and misses are on pitches that had waaaaaaaaaay too much of the plate.

Let's just keep beating a dead horse, TBS. Used to like when the Yankees had their own TV broadcast during the playoffs.

I can't see anyway Stanton plays out his entire contract with the Yankees. I have never understood why he was ever here. Because the Yankees traded basically nothing for a guy that just had an MVP season 59 HRs/132 RBIs.

I have never understood why he was ever here. Jeter sold Cashman on Stanton's one hit wonder season, convincing him it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to bring another MVP to the Bronx. Stanton was far from being a 1 year wonder. In 8 years with the Marlins he has a .914 OPS.
