“I’ve never seen such vitriolic hatred toward a guy. I’m not being hyperbolic, and you guys could both correct me if I’m wrong. I will correct you Michael. I don't assume who hates Costas, I know that I don't hate him. He's a MLB historian. As far as who might like him as an announcer? Well, Michael you don't like condiments, but many people do. In other words, to each their own.

I always thought Costas was a better studio host than play by play guy. He was great when he hosted the Olympics.

Remember when Mike Francesa averred that it doesn’t help a batter to know what pitch is coming? That’s when I thought he should stick with football.

Costas made the decision to use the dumb comparison of Boone to Judge. Once he did, he should have done something intelligent, Exactly, like maybe mention that it's not really a big deal since there aren't many players that did what Boone did.
I would have said the same thing if he would have said that when it came to hitting, Thomson and Mazeroski have more forever postseason moments than Mays and Kiner. I thought Costas was going to bring up Gil Hodges and the 1952 World Series. Hodges went hitless in 26 pa in that series. Afterwards, he appeared in 26 more WS games and batted 333 !

I've got great memories of the postgame shows they did during the '96 World Series ! As he got older he got intolerant and closed minded. Without Russo, he could be a chore. Once he gave an opinion he expected listeners to accept it as fact. I know he does a lot of podcast work but I have not listeded.

Didn't you write that you grew up in New York ? As a kid you did not read that book about Hodges and the prayer meetings ?

Didn't you write that you grew up in New York ? I did. Seems most here grew up in suburbia...specifically New Jersey. My apologies...really hard to detect sarcasm in the written word, if that's what your previous post was.

I'm occasionally in situations when it's necessary to dispel perceptions of "typical" NYers...specifically Yankee fans. Whining about real or perceived slights by a few doesn't help.
