Cade Smith in to face Judge, who's faced Smith once and doubled.
Smith has had maybe the best relief season in MLB this year 6-1, 74 games, 75+ innings, 51 hits, 16 runs (earned), just ONE home run, 17 BB and 103 K.

FB 96 with some run in on righties about 70% of the time
The run value on the FB was +28 runs, which is EXTRAORDINARY for a reliever.

FB inner 3rd, he's late and under, fouls it off the right side, 1-2
Takes his timeout.
Also has a sweeper and a splitter.

Chases a FB running outside, thigh high, 0-2
FB runs just high and outside, Wells chases it and misses, K, inning over.
Not as good as I wanted, but they did go to Smith, and he's been brilliant all year.
3-0 Yanks, going top 3.
Smith needed 7 pitches to get the last two outs, I assume he'll pitch the 3rd for Cleveland with a day off tomorrow.
B. Naylor, Rocchio and back to the top for Kwan for the Guardians in the 3rd.

Wells needs to be removed from the cleanup spot. Maybe Jazz and he flip? He isn't hitting either, but he isn't an easy out. |
