Well everybody saw that, so I'm not going over it. Yanks might have blown the trip to the Series tonight. Still up 2-1, but Gil an unknown quantity in first playoff start vs. probably Williams, who stuff is just as good and has five pitches, not three. Then game 5 with Rodon on the road. I still think they win the series, but if they do, it's now going at least 6, I think. I agree 1 out from 3-0 lead and cakewalk to total Christmas momentum switch.

Fry takes a sinker low and outside, 1-0 FB, inside corner above the waist, taken, 1-1 Sinker dropping thigh high, or below, in the middle, fouled off, 1-2 Hanging sinker above and inside middle, and Fry crushes it to deep left, two run HR gives the Yankees a crushing loss, 7-5, and maybe turns the whole series around. And now the Guardians have belted both the Yanks top two relievers, their fragile aura of invincibilty shattered and they might lose Holmes as an effective pitcher after another big failure and loss. Fought off crushing HRs from Judge and Stanton, took a win away that the Yanks took from Clase. This is a disastrous loss, potentially. Devastating. It could have been different had Boone gone to Holmes early instead of Mayza. Hard to say. They didn't want to overuse their relievers in a game they didn't need to win. Sometimes the other team makes the plays.

OK, Yanks have the late game tomorrow in game 4 on TBS again.
The up-and-down Gil, who ended the season 15-7 with 3.50 ERA after two bad starts in a row, will be pitching for the 1st time in 20 days, so don't be shocked if the start tomorrow is similar to the start against the Guardians in New York in August, when he was gone after just 3 innings, having given up 3 hits, 6 walks and 3 runs. Cleveland pitches their hard-throwing rookie Gavin Williams. He was 3-10 with a 4.86 ERA in 16 starts. He got hammered by the Dodgers in early September, but otherwise pitched well in his last six starts. Not counting that Dodgers game, in the other 5, Williams was 1-3 with and ERA of just under 3.00: 28 innings, 20 hits, 9 earned runs, 2 HR, 10 BB and 27 K's. Like Gil he has the big right arm, tops out at 97-8-9, and has suspect control, but not as bad as Gil's. The good news here is that while Gil hasn't pitched in 20 days, but the start of the game tomorrow, Williams hasn't pitched in 26 days.
OK, preview done, I'll check notifications.

Again, the reason why Berti and Trevino are in the lineup is that Boyd has a .230 BAVG vs. righties and a .143 BAVG vs. lefties. It didn't work. Yea but they could have been pinch hit for by now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yeah, I suppose so.

I keep thinking back to the top of the 9th and the Yankees had runners on second and third with no outs and only scored one of those runners. Ugh, it turns out they needed that additional run.

I believe Rizzo has better career numbers against LH pitchers than does Berti. Yes, he does, but not this year. 2024 vs. lefties: Rizzo: .221/.299/.244/.543 with just 2 doubles, 19 K and 5 BB in 86 PA. Berti: .259/.310/.259/.569 with 5 K's, a BB and a HBP in 27 PA. In a more or less equal situation, offensively, you play the pitcher's split. Defensively, not so much. But Berti played well at first in his two games against KC, so...I dunno.

Mayza stays in. Fry takes a sinker outside, 1-0 FB in the zone above and inside middle, pulled high and out of play down the left side 1-1 Bounces a back leg slider, 2-1 sinker outside, 3-1 Danger pitch here. Sinker outside ball 4. OK, Boone, riddle me this... IF YOU'RE GOING TO KAHNLE HERE FOR RAMIREZ, WHY WASN'T HE IN THE GAME WHEN THE GUARDIANS PH WITH FRY? Qwik, I'd like you to meet Aaron Boone. Of course. I forgot.

Maybe wants to save Rizzo to PH for Trevino, but he could go with Wells anyway, inasmuch as he has to come it at catcher. Otherwise, I have no idea. He could pinch hit Jasson Dominguez and then insert Wells defensively. As it turned out, he used Dominguez as his #1 pinch runner, but Grisham is there, sitting on the bench like a statue. For pinch-running later, I mean.
