Just can’t let this loss become 2 1 loss has nothing to do with whatever happens in a different game. The Yankees were up 2-0 and lost game 3. The Dodgers crushed the Mets and the Mets came right back won game 2. The Mets had momentum for 2 days, and the Dodgers beat the snot out of them in games 3 and 4. I’m not sure The Mets are coming after the last 2 games… it appears the magic has worn off!

There's no way I could root for the Dodgers against any team, but a Yankee-Dodger WS would be a classic.

Yes… Playing the Mets is no win for Yankee fans. If we win, we’re re suppose to beat the poor little Metsies. If we lose… OMG! We’d NEVER hear the end of it. It would be insufferable… especially here on the east coast!

I’m done with them… the Met fans around here have been getting a little too cocky… until last night.

My feelings toward the Mets might be different if I was personally subjected to the cockiness, trash talk, etc. I thought the '69 WS was great, and a favorite baseball moment of mine was watching Game 6 '86 World Series at a sports bar in Denver named...Fenway Park. I've never experienced such an abrupt change of mood in a crowd in the time the ball left Mookie's bat and rolled under Buckner's glove.

Before they finally broke the curse with Manny and Papi!

Losing is part of baseball. Bad baserunning doesn't have to be. If Boone (the coaching staff) cannot fix it it is time for someone else to try. Not sure what has happened to Wells, he can't catch up to even mediocre fastballs. Nothing is happening to Wells, it's just that pitchers have caught on to his weakness...he chases pitches up in the zone, and he always misses them. Now that the league knows this, they will continue pitching him there, until Wells learns to lay off that pitch (which is usually a ball), and allow the count to get into his favor, so they'll be forced to throw him a strike which he can hammer. I've watched enough games in my life to recognize a hitter's problem when they're in a slump. Now that pitchers have learned Wells' weakness, it's time for him to adjust his approach at the plate, so he can start hitting again.

I agree...it happened though, finally in 1955 when after so many times of the Yankees beating the Brooklyn Dodgers in the World Series, the Dodgers finally beat the Yankees. The good news for Yankee fans back then was that the very next year both teams met in the World Series again, and the Yankees won, right before the Dodgers skipped town and moved to L.A. The difference in today's baseball world is, if the Mets and Yankees did meet in the WS and the Mets beat the Yankees...as deep and complicated as the playoffs are in today's MLB, do you know what the odds are of the Yankees and Mets meeting again in a WS next year for one team to try and even the score? Astronomical!

The narrative that kills me is that the Mets are a bunch of overachieving underdogs fighting agains the rich and mighty Dodgers. Last time I checked, the Mets had a bigger payroll.

Wells does swing at some high pitches but he is missing pitches in the zone that he was hitting hard earlier in the year. His bat looks like it has slowed down to this untrained eye. Fatigue? Some old school hitters used to go to a lighter bat late in the season. Not sure Wells is used to playing as much and as long as he has this season.

Yesterday was a game of all the wrong moves! Starting Berdi - bad move ... he really doesnt deserve it and he was a disaster Taking Schmidt out to early - Bad move Hamilton - bad move Mayza - horrible move ... guy shouldnt be a MLB roster never mind the payoffs Wells didnt need to be in this game ... he's been ice cold and needed to sit Overall overuse and dependancy on the bullpen ... was not necessary Speaking of arm chair managing. Not Starting Berdi is armchair managing??? This is the playoffs ... How many games had Berti played at 1st base before the 2024 playoffs !?!?!??! U dont know ???? Schmidt was pitching fine ... Why take him out !?!?!? Hamilton has sucked or been injured for most of the season !! Thats not true ???? Mayza ... Is that arm chair managing??? ... ANSWER ME !!!!!!!!! They havent been pulling their starter early and over using the Bullpen????

One thing I will say is that the slump hasn't hurt his defense. He is really good at scooping or blocking balls in the dirt.
