One good thing. Cortes only threw 2 pitches, so Boone can easily use him to close game 2. After showing how far he can give up a bomb, why would Boone eve consider such a move?

I could not stay up and fell asleep after the 2-2 tie. I said if you need Cortes or Stroman in a game it means it went bad.
Judge needs to wake up.
Must tie it up tonight or the Yankees are done.

Team has no heart. No fire. Welcome to the board.
Yea, made it to the World Series with multiple clutch HRs and timely pitching but has no heart and fire.
Its one loss. Champions get tested and bounce back. Let's see what we're made of.

Team has no heart. No fire. Only losses in the playoffs so far have been heart breakers they should've won. They've bounced back to win each series. This one will be no different.

At least he got Ohtani out…😖 lol. It wasn't a great pitch to Ohtani either. 92 mph fast ball center cut. Lucky that wasn't jacked out of the stadium.

Tough loss, and while I've been a defender of Boone in the past, I agree he had a terrible game and it started with his decison to take Cole out so early. I would have allowed him to try to finish the 7th. I've mentioned before that I thought the Yankees were a below average defensive team, I know the metrics say otherwise but they just don't pass the eye test for me and it's not just crucial errors, it's also not making the plays that should be made which aren't scored as errors. Hopefully we see a bounce back game today but that was a painful loss.

To be honest, with Judge not having a good post-season (again), if anyone had to hit a bomb off of Nestor to win the game for the Dodgers, I'm glad it was Freeman rather than Ohtani. I think Judge already has enough pressure on him and didn't need people rubbing it in how much better Ohtani is than him in the post season.

The visiting team losing game 1 of a 7 game series isn't fatal. Bad baseball too often is. The parts of the game that bother me this morning are the mental errors. Did Anthony Rizzo really think he could run into a double play ? Did he forget the force rule ? Or did he decide at the last minute to enjoy the life of a spectator at a World Series game ? It also annoys me when a fielder paid $ 9 million dollars a year tells me he doesn't know the rules of the sport. Maybe an afternoon with a rule book might be appropriate. Judge, Soto, Torres and Stanton are who they are. Stanton is having the postseason we hoped Judge would and Judge is having the postseason we expected from Stanton. Soto is an outstanding batter with questionable defense. Torres is Tores. The man can hit, but that is what he does and not much else. After 6 years Yankee fans should know.
The only thing that can't be explained is the thought process of Aaron Boone. In a world being taken over by AI, we all have to hope that it doesn't stand for Aaron;s Intelligence. Unless Trevino is used to pinch run for Chisholm later in the series, last night's move with Nestor will be the strangest call of the '24 Word Series.

Don't want this to sound like Soto bashing because he's had a great year but I'm really surprised he was announced as a gold glove finalist. Not sure I would say there was a play he should have made that he didn't last night but he did look awkward on a few. I also thought he had a chance to make a play on the sacrafice fly but it was a pretty mediocre throw to home.
