OK, my notifications have been checked and responded to, so I guess that it's for the game threads for this season. I'll be on the board from time to time, certainly for inger's Hall of Fame thread and an assortment of others. Hope to see you guys back here for next year's game threads. Otherwise, will see you when I see you in other threads. For those who don't, have a good off-season and Happy New Year. Good night to all of you. First pennant in 15 years seems a bit ashen-tasting now, because of the way they blew Games 1 and 5, and the huge uncertainty over Soto, without whom they'd never have gotten close to the Series this year. Bye for now. Thank you for doing the game thread play by play all year qwik! You the game thread MVP for sure! 🫡

As I say from time to time, this era Yankees team always seems to have too many ways to lose, and they found most of them again tonight. Terrible clutch hitting. Terrible fielding mistakes. Multiple mental flatulence in the field. There wasn't much bad pitching, just good Dodgers' situational hitting. And I don't think Boone made a major error tonight either. Ah, well. Yanks lose game 5, 7-6, blowing leads of 5-0 and 6-5, giving the Dodgers enough breaks for a Championship team to take advantage of. No need for three stars of the game. No need for a game preview for game 6. I'll just check all the notifications I missed, then get going for the night. Pretty much sums it up.

I feel like Torres redeemed himself a lot int he second half. Have to see what the contract would be. I really hope we move on from Torres. His mental lapses, poor baserunning and low baseball IQ are enough for me to be happy to see him leave. Put Chisolm over at 2nd and let's get a solid 3rd baseman. Also let Verdugo walk and let the Martian get in a full season. They've been looking for a solid leadoff hitter for years I think they finally got one.

He was 8 feet from the bag ... there was no need for Cole to cover Cole HAS TO COVER there, even if he's 90% sure Rizzo can take it himself. Let Rizzo wave him off if he thinks he can take it on his own, but it's the pitcher's job to be there, just in case, ESPECIALLY WITH 2 OUTS. I couldn't agree more.

Have a great off-season!

obviously plenty of hot stove to come.
the elephant in the room of course is soto. we'd never be in this position w/o him. of course would love to see him back but also hate committing that much money to a player when we're already so top heavy. however nothing's gonna happen until his fate is decided.
some obvious moves are verdugo & rizzo gone. probably gleyber. hope DJ retires. so this team has to go back to the drawing room. for now the only sure things are judge, stanton, chisholm, volpe & wells. that leaves 4 spots to fill. yikes!!!
interestingly the SP is pretty much set. cole, rodon, schmidt, gil, cortes and stroman (ultimately not a good pick up) back. we can certainly upgrade but so many other more pressing needs unlikely.
the bullpen needs a lot of work. holmes is a FA. please no more of him. as is kahnle. decent season and good PS but spit the bit tonite. won't miss his only change ups. we got lucky with all 3 of the dives. weaver, cousins and hill all far exceeded expectations but do their carriages turn back into pumpkins. we do have a couple more years of leiter and after a terrible start actually pitched well in the PS. we have mayza but could do much better. hamilton and loisaga are injured more than they're healthy. the big lack is young electric swing & miss guys.
anyway let the speculation begin ...

The Yankees gave up a very good pitcher in Michael King and added $24 M in payroll to bring in Juan Soto. Depending on how they spent the $24 M, they would have gone just as far or maybe even won tonight.

thanks hopefully it will be nothing. Just a bad lab I had a test last year indicating prostate cancer. The test (PSA?) had jumped significantly. Retest by the specialist was normal. Bad test. Hope you have a similar result. I have had several false PSA tests and my doctor has told me they are often wrong. There is a test for Free PSA which he believes is much more accurate. I get tested every 6 months. .

The New York drought for the four major sports continues........
Maybe Hockey this year?
NFL looking grim.
Knicks I think will be good, but they haven't even made an ECF yet so not sure if they can beat the Celtics or any of the powerhouse western teams.
Sounds like its up to the NY Rangers.

According to baseball reference the Yankees never blew a lead of more than 3 runs all year until tonight.

Coulda-Woulda-Shouda LOL Dodgers win in the Bronx Yeah!!! Not cool and you are embarrassing us. Try and keep in mind how it feels and be humble. We have certainly been on the wrong end of the World Series before.
