I have been on YES boards, mainly reading, for many many years. Yankee fan since I am old enough to remember....mainly around 1960. Glad this board is here....I will be reading every day. It's always good to have another well-seasoned Yankee fan on here. My fandom goes back to 1957, so we're in the same era. It's great to have a whole colony from the YES board checking in here. I hope you all will continue to post. New viewpoints are always welcome.

I’m a new member from the yes forum. Diehard yankee fan, grew up in Connecticut, went to many yankee games as a kid. My hubby was a dodger fan when we met, but alas, he’s now a diehard yankee fan . I live out west now, but have been to Oakland many times to see our team. Go Yankees!! Wow, that's a major conversion. I don't think I've ever heard of a Dodger fan entering the Yankee faith. I went to a lot of A's games in the early 1970s, when Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum was new and the plumbing worked and the A's were great. A different world.

Good to have you on board!
What is your opinion on The Coliseum in Oakland? It usually ranks near the bottom of Stadium lists but I hear from people who've gone there that the atmosphere is actually very nice?
And congratulations on converting your husband! Welcome Stefanie! Happy to have you on board. I lived in Berkeley in the late 90's and would walk 3 minute to the BART Station and after a 20 minute train ride, get dropped off at the Coliseum. The stadium was kind of a dump, but the food was cheap and inexpensive tickets always available. The A's usually only drew big crowds when the Yanks or Red Sox were in town. I miss the guy who would walk around playing his banjo.

I noticed our old pal -- and one of my favorite posters -- Grandforks posting on the Pinstripe Alley site. He mainly sticks to the history-related threads. I'm not signing up over there to nudge him, though. There are some smart people on that site, but it gets really nasty and condescending. You run a much more pleasant operation over here, Kaybli.

Well, I'm glad grandforks found a home. I may go send him a PM on that site just to have him stop by here and say hello if he wants to.

Welcome bobmitmen! There's lot of knowledge on our little Yankee site. Hope you stay and participate. It's a fun group. 61' was my first season. I turned 6 that summer and Mickey Mantle became my hero. He still was until the day he died.

Regarding the Oakland coliseum, there always seem to be more yankee fans than Oakland fans. I didn’t twist my husband’s arm to be a yankee fan, but I always had the games on and gradually came around. He wears his yankee hat everywhere. 😄 Most people here in reno root for the sf giants. My favorite yankee will always be The Mick!!
what is fan of Womack???

We all started out as fans of Womack. It has to do with how many posts you have made. And anybody whose favorite is Number 7 will always find plenty of like-minded posters on this site. I really like the Reno area. So scenic. There's a bit of my own local history from the burbs of Philly in Truckee, not too far from you. There was an old diner called The Birmingham Grill that was around these parts when I was growing up. Sometime in the 1990s, it was sold to a guy in Truckee and was transported by truck nearly cross-country. I believe it is called Jax Truckee Diner these days. Right off of I-80. I am proud to say that I had greasy omelettes in both locations.

Feel free to chime in with your opinions here, too. No one here bites. Well, maybe Rizzuto, but we hold the leash back when he tries… 😂
