"He" had gotten on a roll because the team was hot and wanted to post almost every game thread. When he walked he snarked some funny shit about the board "needing" his starts, and who could replace him...I think he actually thought he was the reason the team was winning during that little addictive streak he got on...I thought I was a mental case before that...But I can see I have plenty of company...My fake rants vs. a real one with no logical support... |

I was hoping his family would hang around and update us a bit, but in reality I suppose there was nothing to update. The last time I spoke to Mrs. G the reality of death was so heavy, with her saying that she didn't know what to do or how to do anything because he had always been the one that paid the bills, arranged for utilities...anything they needed. And of course, in a case like that, she was even unaware of how much money she had (I don't think that was much of an issue with his history) or how much the bills would be...Just lost in what was left of a suddenly shattered world...It was extremely emotional... |

Yes. I felt bad for her, but I knew John was pretty well-to-do, and the kids were there with her to help guide her through the web of paper work and such. I knew she'd be fine. It was the shock of it all for her, I suppose. She thought he'd be going to the doctor and coming home like all the other times. I remember when my dad passed away. Most of my siblings and I were in the room with him as he lay so obviously close to death. My step-mother was in the kitchen with some other folks. I went in and told them that dad had passed on and my step-mother said, "Now"? WE all knew it was coming...SHE was still in denial and I suppose waiting for the perfect moment when she might have stepped into the room and said good-bye before he left us. Death just doesn't work that way. When one of my brothers died, I had just left the hospital ten minutes before...knowing it wouldn't be long...yet, still... in my mind, I'm sure I thought "Why didn't I stay ten more minutes"??? |
