I think we have the advantage in this game but I'm a little worried at how gassed the bullpen is. Gray throws a lot of pitches, and while he could throw 5 innings of 0-1 run baseball, I could see him sitting at 100 pitches. Hopefully the offense shows up and gets some early run support. I imagine Adam Warren and Betances will certainly be used out of the bullpen.
If the opportunity presents itself, I would like to see Girardi go with Chapman for a 6 out save. I don't trust Betances in the 8th inning right now, Chapman had a day of rest, and, Game 1 is essentially must win with Kluber pitching Game 2. I would honestly like to see us try to get innings from Robertson and Green again tomorrow night if the opportunity is there to win the game, and then, if need be, make them unavailable Friday night to give them 2 days off heading into Game 3.
It's tough and everything will obviously be game situation dependent but Game 1 on paper is the most winnable right now. I would throw the kitchen sink at that one and then have a fully rested bullpen for 2 Yankee Stadium games.

I'm a little surprised they went with Gray. They must have a lot of confidence in him. Do I share that confidence? Ehhhhhhhh. Like chs said sometimes he nibbles a lot and throws a lot of pitches. Just got to hope for the best.

Just got to hope for the best. I'm not so sure that Gray intentionally nibbles. His pitches have so much movement on them, I think he's not quite sure where a lot of them are going. That's a good thing sometimes...and a bad thing at other times... |

That's a good thing sometimes...and a bad thing at other times... I saw that he had exaggerated splits where he was dominant against bad teams and not so good against good teams. But then aren't most pitcher's like that? The stats also said Judge wasn't clutch. He looked pretty clutch last night! |

Ahhh. I dunno. I've never had an avatar. It sort of makes me feel so special, just like never having started a game thread. I'll have to study on the subject. I'll lock all 23 of my personalities in a room and we'll have a round robin discussion and see what we come up with...I don't do that very often. There's a powerful effect. The last time I did it, Oprah wrote "The Color Purple"...and did she give me one iota of credit? No! Bitch! Go ahead and give away cars with my money!!!

My step daughter and my step grand daughter love the Sonic commercials I made with that dark-haired guy as my foil... My favorite is still the one where I yell out "Hey! You wanna hang out some TIME"??? So far that has been the greatest gig of my life... To be a bit more reserved and serious here, the weird random rant is indeed one of the highlights of my comedy act. Most of the people come to the show specifically to see those rants. In fact, I have people that will come up to me in public and just ask to do something "ranty". It's hard, because I don't always have a rant right at hand, or I may be working on a new rant and I may not have it quite down pat yet. Maybe I'm not ready to present the rant in full, but DO THEY CARE? No, NOT ONE DAMNED BIT!!! Ohh...Ohhh...OHhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Do not be afraid to get close to your monitors, friends.
