Happ has built his career around a couple of seasons where he pitched good (not great) and got big run support. Good for him. He’d probably do well with the Yankees big offense behind him, but i’m certainly not in love with him...

is Happ better than Cessa?.....better than German without the first inning problems?.....better than borrowing from what Tampa does, and starting Cole or another reliever for 2 innings, then building the rest of the game?.....
Maize indicates there is some Rule 5 players that need to be cleaned out, so if it's just losing some guys we would lose anyway, I suppose having Happ might be a positive....
The Britton trade tells me we are not going to get a difference-making starter....

If Cessa can pitch anywhere near the way he’s tossing in the minors and Britton continues to rebound, we don’t really need another ace, just a back of the rotation dude that can go 5-6 frames and keep the team in the game. Also with Romine steering the staff now, I think we are in good shape. When Gary comes back in a couple of weeks maybe he can wipe the slate clean and recommit himself both in his performance and in the eyes of his teammates. Color me optimistic going forward.
