George King just tweeted Gary Denbo is heading to the Marlins to be Director of Player Development and Amateur Scouting.

This is a tough loss. Hopefully Cashman will remain on board. I remember there being a rumor Jeter would want him as the President of baseball operations of the Marlins the way Theo Epstein is for the Cubs.
I have had my gripes with Cashman, but I think he's done a tremendous job rebuilding the franchise with youth and through the farm system without having to go through a "rebuilding" season where we really stink. Again, I've had my criticisms in the past and he's not perfect (no one is) but Cashman has really shown himself to be a top GM since Hal Steinbreinner took over the reigns of the franchise and allowed Cashman to take the organization in a different direction.

Not surprising. Cashman and Girardi will be available this offseason as well, in all likelihood.

Not after what he has done to rebuild this org at all levels over the past few years. Girardi is a different story. I hope not, I'd like to see Cashman stay. But repeatedly he's reupped with some kind of statement about control and then some knucklehead in the front office undermines him either in a big or small way. So it wouldn't surprise me if he left. Best case, they know they need him and he uses that leverage to extract a real commitment from Hal that he knows more about running the team than Randy Levine does.

I suspect Cashman isn't high on Jeter's list.

The Yankees should have been proactive and done this with Cashman already, then allow Brian to handpick his own GM, plus handing out promotions to guys like Denbo. This has done a great job rebuilding this organization while staying competitive. They should be rewarded.

I suspect Cashman isn't high on Jeter's list. Maybe not. I honestly doubt Jeter is more than a figurehead. But if they plan to move Stanton and rebuild, as the story says, there aren't that many guys with a track record of doing that successfully.

Maybe they could get rid of all of George's cronies and only hire businesspeople who know something about the industry and the sport and run this like an actual business and not the family frozen banana stand. Oh, never mind...
