Well, my Saints hang from a thin tread of playoff hopes. For New Orleans to make the playoffs, they must defeat the Falcons at Atlanta and the Rams must beat the 49ers. Hopefully, the Saints will continue to get back players out with injuries and from COVID. The Saints were still depleted against the Panthers but not to the extent they were in the loss to Miami.
The defense has been carrying the load for the Saints the entire season, but with three All-Pro offensive linemen, their number one and number two receivers, and starting quarterback out, the Saints would have trouble scoring in a whorehouse with a fist full of fifties. If they could just get back their offensive tackles, it would make a world of difference.
If all goes right in Atlanta, the Saints would draw the Rams in the first round of the playoffs. Am I clouded by my allegiance? Would you bet on the Saints making the playoffs?

I'll be rooting for em!

Sometimes you get a gift from the football Gods. Indy loses to Jacksonville. Steelers squeak by the Ravens Steelers go to the playoffs if tonight's Chargers/Raiders game doesn't end in a tie.

Sometimes you get a gift from the football Gods. Indy loses to Jacksonville. Steelers squeak by the Ravens Steelers go to the playoffs if tonight's Chargers/Raiders game doesn't end in a tie. It's funny when everything breaks the right way. Unfortunately, the Saints defeated the Falcons in Atlanta, but Matthew Stafford and the Rams came up small against the 49ers in Los Angeles, losing in overtime after grabbing an early seventeen point lead. So, New Orleans misses the playoffs and San Francisco gets the last spot. It may have been a fait accompli in the first round, as second string QB Taysom Hill left the game in the first half today with a foot injury. Still, there are several teams that did not want to face the Saints defense in the playoffs - Tampa Bay and Tom Brady for one. The other odd thing this season is the Saints played much better football on the road this year than at home. The Saints also set an NFL record with the most players utilized and starting in a single season (due to injuries), and in case you are wondering, that was set after the 16th game played; they didn't need the 17th game to achieve that dubious distinction. Few things ever seem to break right for my Saints. That, alas, is part of being a Saints' fan.

Congrats to Chi's Steelers. I was rooting for the Rams so the Saints could sneak into the playoffs but alas it wasn't to be. Sorry rizz. I will be rooting against the Cowboys, Eagles, Buccaneers, and Packers in the playoffs. The clown show Giants have the 5th and 7th pick. That's the only positive thing I can say for them.

And, one of the Giants’ wins was a comeback against the Saints. That loss and a last second field goal loss to Atlanta were the two that were indefensible…and both at home in the New Orleans Super Dome.

If the Saints had stayed even reasonably healthy during the season, I think things would have been different. Having to play that game against the Dolphins with 22 players and 4 coaches out really hurt. That was the Saints only loss the last five games of the season. Again, that was the “random” COVID-19 testing following the Saints’ 9-0 shutout win over Tom Brady and the Buccaneers at Tampa Bay. Saints had to start their fourth-string QB, rookie Ian Book, with just a few days’ notice. If that had been Tampa Bay or the Patriots without 42% of their players, I just do not believe Roger Goodell and the NFL would have allowed the game to proceed.

Giants clown show:
Exhibit Z in this instance was a two-play sequence on Sunday when the Giants were “competing” against the Washington Football Team. The Giants had second-and-11 from their own two-yard line (because of course they did), and the play call was a Jake Fromm quarterback sneak.
And then, not to be outdone by his own idiocy, Judge signed off on ANOTHER QUARTERBACK SNEAK ON THIRD-AND-9 FROM HIS OWN FOUR-YARD LINE.
