You wanna sit a guy like Bird after he finally gets a couple of knocks, said nobody. I don't understand this philosophy at all. How could Boone not see Bird drive the ball several times to RF yesterday and not want to run him right back out there again? It makes no sense at all.

Yankees win! Holder with a great hook to end it. Echoing others, why sit Bird? He usually hits lefties better than righties. Yankees ties their high water mark for the season at 31 games over .500.

Orioles can only beat the Yankees it seems. Boston beats them again with Sale dominating coming off the DL. Red Sox now 50 games over .500. Sale gave up one hit over five innings with 12 strikeouts! Yankees still 8 games back in the loss column.

Gray gave up 5 hits and 2 runs in 1 inning. Of his 3 outs, 3 were put in play, 0 strikeouts.
Sale gave up 1 hit and 0 runs in 5 innings. Of his 15 outs, 3 were put in play.
See, their numbers are much the same...just the categories differ.

And, I remember 1978 like it was yesterday. Keep hope alive!

Andujar's biggest problem in his footwork at third, it's very poor. yeah...the same problem Nunez had, but not quite as bad.....I think training can improve that, but the really great ones have an innate ability in good footwork...

Missed this one today in favor of taking a drive through forest near Greenhorn Mountain. The mountain has a peak elevation of slightly over 12,000 feat, which only makes it the 1,107th tallest peak in Colorado. It has excellent prominence however, standing a bit more than 6,000 feet above the surrounding plains.
Disappointed we didn’t see any game animals, but the views and weather were beautiful and the solitude was great. Peace and quiet.
We saw black squirrel, which you don’t see in the east, and an animal resembling a chipmunk called a seven-striped ground squirrel. It was mid day in the forest, so it’s rare to do much animal spotting. The area is rich with elk, mule deer, bighorn sheep, etc..
Maybe we’ll take some back roads on the way home. We’re still a good hour away on the highway, so plenty of time to wander the back roads a bit.

Yep, because then the Yankees would also be playing out of their minds...

I can only imagine Denali. I've been to the top of Pikes Peak at 14,330 several times. We also drove up Mt. Evans which is a bit taller, I believe but the road ends about 1/4 from the top. None of the four of us in the car were game to walk the trail up to the peak. The walk to the rest rooms was enough for us... (: I watched a special on Public TV a couple of weeks ago that showed some of the wonders of the Andes. That, too must be amazing...Those peaks are often 18,000+ feet as well, and rise up with great prominence over the surrounding land. We did take a nice little side trip on the way back into the little (but growing) town of Rye, which skirts the east side of Greenhorn Mountain and it's sister mountains that make up "The Greenhorns" which are also part of "The Wet Mountains". Along the way we spotted a herd of antelope, probably a couple dozen strong. I was also able to figure out where to go the next time, which will take us as near to the peak of Greenhorn Mountain as the road goes. We were looking for that road today, and darned near found it. Someone gave us a bum steer when we asked for directions, and I kind of knew it, but it was a nice forest service road, so we decided that if we were going to be semi-lost it might as well be on half-way decent roads. I never needed to utilize the four wheel drive on my truck, but I was getting close for a little while. Next time, I'm going to make approach from the north, whereas today I approached from the south... This country sure is beautiful. I need to do more of these drives. They relax me, and you never quite know what you'll see...I have the Kebler Pass near Crested Butte on the list for this autumn. That road takes you by the largest living organism on earth, a grove of aspen...all growing from one single root system...We want to see it when it's in autumn's blaze...Those are truly the experiences we moved to Colorado to see. We did too much with other people in mind this year. They were nice trips and great experiences, but I want to go deeper into the forests and higher in the hills. To see the smallest towns and the places that used to be towns and no longer exist other than a few ruins...

Glad you are enjoying some of this beautiful country in the Rockies....I am planning a utv excursion on the Arapeen trail in southern Utah in a couple weeks....that is an off-road vehicle trail system about 500 miles in length that runs along the spine of the Uintas, much of it at about 10,000 ft....Arapeen was a Ute chief in the 1840's, friendly with Brigham Young, who helped the two peoples assimilate in a mutually beneficial way....the trail itself is quite beautiful, particularly as the foliage at that altitude comes into the fall colors..

You are truly a blessed man to be capable of such a trip at ninety years of age. I’ve met some very fit nonagenarian folks lately. It’s amazing to see that when I think of the ninety year olds I met a couple of decades ago...
