It's July 29th and the Chicago White Sox are 54 games under .500. They have to win all of their remaining games to finish an even .500. They have to go 16-38 to avoid equalling the 1962 Mets record of 120 losses. That doesn't sound like much, but it would be an improvement over what they've done so far. It's gotten so that I make sure I check recaps of their games every morning. The Pale Hose are interesting again! |

Taking notice of how many pitchers have high ERAs despite the relatively low number of runs scored. This is obviously due to the reluctance of official scorers to call errors in an attempt to subsidize batting averages…

Between May 4 and June 15, 2024 there were 15 position players employed as pitchers that faced 55 batters. They fanned only 1 batter, but allowed 0 earned runs.
(Maybe I just solved the Yankee closer problem)… 🤓

Trout should just retire. ESPN can still call him the best of all time lol. But if he keeps this up, they'll have to start looking at different players.
