Trout should just retire. ESPN can still call him the best of all time lol. But if he keeps this up, they'll have to start looking at different players. I wonder what's happening to the value of his baseball cards. Might be a good time to sell.

Snell completed his no hitter…
Still don’t mind we didn’t get him…

Snell completed his no hitter… Still don’t mind we didn’t get him… Me either. It's his first win of the year and the first complete game of his career after 202 starts. The Giants last no-hitter was thrown in 2015 by one Chris Heston, a name that has eluded me. He is currently selling real estate in Melbourne Florida.

The White Sox are up to 18 straight losses, many of them blowouts. What struck me is that it's the longest losing streak since Baltimore lost 19 in a row in August 2021. They were that bad that recently.
Although lately they are showing signs of reverting.

I'm pulling for them because I love witnessing baseball history. I remember that 23-game streak by the 1961 Phillies very well. At a certain point the fans got into it and wanted them to keep losing. At one point they came back from a road trip when the streak was well along and there was a huge crowd to greet them at the airport as if they had just won the World Series. Thousands of people including a few friends of mine who asked me if I wanted to go but I was too focused on a great Yankees team and Mantle and Maris in the home run race to have time for such lowbrow nonsense! They showed it on TV and manager Gene Mauch came off last, looking confused and trying to figure out how to take it as he got a thunderous ovation. He got into it enough to reluctantly acknowledge the crowd. And how was the French Onion Soup? And the rest of the dinner?

Their current win pct. of .243 would give them a final record of 39-123. The ‘62 Mets were 40-120… This is so damned exciting!… 😎

The French Onion soup was just average, but the rest of the dinner was pretty good. I had a 16 ounce ribeye medium rare and it was cooked to perfection with asparagus, king trumpet mushrooms, and fingerling potatoes. Also enjoyed some grilled octopus and steamed mussels. For desert had the creme brulee which was wonderful. Great company, great dinner, and a great birthday!

Oh garçon, if you please, I prefer my French onion soup sans the onion, and the octopus, could ask the chef to remove the infundibulum and the acetabulum? They tend to stick in my throat. He may leave the chitinous cuticle as I rather enjoy that for its chewiness. And a Doctor Pepper, please. None of that Dynamite Cola from Safeway. REAL Dr. Pepper…

Was there a doggy bag involved in that 16 oz steak, or did you go full Joey Chestnut on it? On the rare occasions I get dessert -- even then it's a share with my wife -- it's either creme brulee or chocolate mousse. Good choices all around. I miss the old-style snooty French restaurant where the waiter acts as if you are a great imposition on his day unless he's known you for years. I'm probably the only person who does, which is why they disappeared (although there are still a few left in Paris if you can find an 80 year old waiter in a 100 year old restaurant.)

I finished just about all of the steak except a final piece which I gave to a friend who I felt bad for since he had the duck which wasn't as big and filling. Can't go wrong with creme brulee!
This wasn't the old snooty French restaurant type. I know exactly what you're talking about though. We had a place like that in Princeton, Lahiere's, where a jacket was required and the waiters were snooty but the food was excellent. It closed down though as it wasn't trendy enough I guess.

[/qu Somehow, I’m envisioning the guy at your right side, you holding up the steak 🥩: “You want it , boy? Speak! C’mon. Speak.” “arf dammit”…
