Saw the crawler, 7 straight games with a home run for Kendrys Morales. Dale Long, Don Mattingly, and Ken Griffey, Jr. are the only ones with 8 games in a row... I was happy for Donnie when he became the second to do it. He had come so far as a power hitter...

Am I the only one that thinks it strange that Billy Ripken has a plaque at Camden Yards? ? ?

Chances are Luke Voit is not a long-term solution at 1B....but he might give us a few home runs through the season end...that is, if Boone plays him....and, it means that while the Yankees are not necessarily giving up on Bird, they are awake to see the real situation at 1B, and maybe take some action...

Stanton again flailing. A couple games in a row. He's expanding the strike zone and bailing out.

I’ve met several of the Ripkens and have found them to be a temperamental bunch...Never met Cal or Billy, but met their mom and dad, an uncle and a cousin. Vi was very nice, but she was pretty well lit, too...That was way before the kidnapping days...Of course everyone had to tell Cal, Sr. that I was a Yankee fan. To his credit we had a little discussion about how that came about and how I view baseball on the grander scale, which he at least feigned to understand...

It helps to have that famous brother. Don't forget his dad, Cal Sr. At least dad was an Oriole long time lifer that managed the team...Remembering him and that 0-21 start...Also remember that I witnessed him playing golf in Rising Sun, MD on two occasions. Both times I was arriving at the course (Chantilly Manor, routing has been changed since, now 16th hole) the Ripken entourage were playing their approach shots on hole #7, which was visible from the parking lot. Both times Cal Sr. failed to get the ball in the air, topping the ball. Made me feel like a pro golfer... (:

Way too early for that. True story. He was the speaker at a Lion’s Club function. The Lion’s were trying to recruit me, so I got to sit at the bar with the hob-nobbers... I met the other relatives because they lived, worked and shopped in the town I worked in and sometimes lived in. It was the county next door to Hartford County, where the more famous Ripken’s lived...Cecil County, which was often referred to as Ceciltucky...it was rather backward compared to say, Baltimore...

Voit could be a handy role player in a platoon role, though.I don’t hate his addition to the team, which probably mean he’s ticketed to AAA any second now...
