Such a big strike zone tonight, away and down. Inducing lots of bad swings at strike three.

Joe "Girder" Girardi chats about the roof with the ump, rather than the strike zone.

Frustrating game so far they are basically losing by 2 singles.

Ugh enough Altuve

A couple of thoughts:
1.) Altuve is the best player in the American League. He is literally outstanding. He does everything.
2.) I thought Tanaka was outstanding, again. He got very unlucky in the 4th inning. Altuve beat out a weak infield ground ball, which then led to him stealing second and scoring. Then an Astros player found the hole on a weak ground ball up the middle. He just got unlucky, he wasn't hit hard the entire night except for the hit that scored Altuve.
I thought Giles looked shaky in the 8th. Hopefully we can at least get base runners on in the 9th and put pressure on him. A couple of tough grind it out AB's would be great. He's lost his adrenaline from the 8th inning, and a tough AB or two will have his pitch count near 30 pitches, which should have him tiring out.

Its tough when the ump is giving their pitchers those outside strikes on the first pitch of the at bat. Your behind and guessing. They have been throwing junk all night once they get ahead and we are swinging blind folded. I agree with this. The strike zone has been and inconsistent. The Yankees have been on the wrong end of this umpires shitty strikezone much more than the Astros have. It helps that the Astros are home, and also that the Astros complain about the strikezone. Right away in the first inning Keuchel was working the umpire. Yet, a pitch will be 8 inches below Judge knees on a called 3rd strike and he'll just stoically walk to the dugout. Sometimes you need to let the umpire his call was fucking wrong.

Jose Altuve is only the best player in the American League in an American League where Mike Trout doesnt exist.

This is reminding me of Dustin Pedroia the year he won the MVP and killed the yankees every time they played.

Another strikeout on a super low pitch Castro flailed at a slider down and away with 2 strikes? Shocker.

Tomorrow is a must win game. We can't go down 0-2 with our 2 best pitchers losing. We have Severino and Robertson, Kahnle, and Chapman on 2 days rest. Must win tomorrow. Throw the kitchen sink at the game.

Throw the kitchen sink at the game. The yankees need to split in Houston, just frustrating when the game is 2-0 and can't capitalize on chances given its not like Keuchel retired 20 in a row or something and Giles is far from lights out tonight. Bird getting thrown out at home didn't help, but that throw was dead on.
