I love the way the man can pick it at third base. I love how patient he is at the plate and the power in his bat. I enjoy his personality. I don't love what's become of his batting average. A .213 in 2017 that followed a .225 in 2016 for a player who has already eclipsed 30 is a bad recipe. Yep, I'd take him back on a one year deal, but if he's going to get a multi-year deal, then move on to the next player...

Just saw the highlight of when Damon stole 2nd off the Philles in the 2009 World Series, then went to 3rd when nobody was covering. I really wish (and thought) Ellsbury would be Damon 2.0.. I actually got out of bed to post that thought on here..

Speaking of Jake-O-Bee... Jon Heyman thinks he could be a Mariner next season... HAHAHAHAHA I'll believe it when it happens. SOoooo wish Jake was Damon 2.0... Even when Damon sucked , he was twice the player Ells is... "Look for the Yankees to shop Jacoby Ellsbury after a disappointing season in which he sat in the ALCS while Aaron Hicks, who slumped badly, played. The Yankees would have to offset much of the contract. But they are trying to get below the $195 million mark, have a surplus of outfielders and believe Ellsbury might do better with a change of scenery. He actually had a nice second half after returning following a concussion suffered while crashing into the center-field wall, but he still finished with a .264/.348/.402 slash line, which was still below average for an outfielder, and below his career norm. (In fact, in none of his four years in New York has he reached his .760 career OPS.) Ellsbury has three years to go on his $153 million, seven-year deal, so there would have to be a significant paydown to facilitate a deal. Some have always envisioned Ellsbury going home to play in Seattle, which could use an outfielder but is not believed to have a lot of money in its budget. Agent Scott Boras expressed strong disappointment that after having a very nice second half, Ellsbury was relegated to nine at-bats in the postseason (he was 0 for 9) and watched while Hicks played center in the ALCS. Hicks wound up going 2 for 25 in the series. Boras pointed to Ellsbury’s strong play after returning from the head injury, and his success as a postseason player for Boston. “He helped them win two rings,” Boras pointed out." www.fanragsports.com/inside-baseball-mlb-notes-cubs-in-position-to-trade/

Good. Don't let the door hit you in the ass, fruitcake. The 2018 team is already improved, even if we never hire a new 3rd base coach.

Yeah. I doubt he had trouble getting "permission" to speak to another team. And I'm sure he has some talent. In fact, if he had sat next to Girardi and whispered in his ear he wouldn't have made some of outs he did on the bases this season...
