I'm guessing you still have a summer/fall trip lined up for this year. We did our annual New Mexico, Colorado, Utah road trip last month...visiting kids, grandkids and our first great-grandchild. Headed west on I-70 to Grand Junction, CO then thru Utah and Cedar Breaks National Monument. Spent the night in Kanab, UT which is a cool little town on the UT-AZ border with lots of movie making history. Headed home thru Vermillion Cliffs. Gonna stay close to home for the rest of the summer...spend a few days in Sedona & Flagstaff end of this month, then probably a fall foliage trip (yes, there is such a thing in Arizona) in October...a few scenic drives along the Mogollon Rim between Payson & Pinetop-Lakeside. Head down thru Salt River Canyon to Globe, then home. Independence Monument inside Colorado National Monument (Grand Junction)...

Yeah I knew that you were in the area but wasn't sure if it was right in town. A great place for sure. Last time I was there it was to have lunch at the Nassau Inn. My wife has a good friend in Lambertville nearby and that's very nice too. Haddonfield is another good NJ town. Obviously there are plenty of them. I knew a guy in Saddle River and that wasn't too shabby either. At least it wasn't 40 years ago. You definitely need a long weekend in Cape May! Especially in the fall. It's always been a beautiful place. I love New Jersey. I don't know why it gets so much grief. There's so much to do, right in between Philly and NYC, the state is so diverse from beaches to cities to parks, the food is great, love living here. I think a lot of that came from long ago when the industrial towns of North Jersey were at a low ebb. Plus the Turnpike experience is all a lot of people know, and the Richard Stockton Rest Area was their only on the ground encounter. But actual Jerseyites are generally pretty loyal. The northwest part of the state is really nice, as are many areas along the Delaware River and naturally the shore towns. My grandparents used to own a hotel in Wildwood and later in Cape May, so I spent a lot of time there as a kid.

Wow you already got your quota Bob. That's a spectacular trip. I'll go to Sedona or Flagstaff anytime. One of my best friends lives in Globe (rather isolated where they are.)

You had to drive with a change belt on… I think it gets dinged a lot for the unreal property taxes…

We're into "scenic drives" now...hiking days are mostly in the rearview. The Red Rock Scenic Drive in Sedona and up thru Oak Creek Canyon to Flagstaff is awesome. Spent several overnight stops in Globe...an old mining town with a few interesting sites. Besh-Ba-Gowah ruins is worth a quick visit, and there's a "trading post" store (Pickle Barrel) which satisfies my wife's insatiable need to spend money on stuff she'd never think of buying at any other time. And the drive up 60 thru Salt River Canyon is a good one.
