Remember that one year when we had designated game thread starters for the post season? Good times!!! We always did that right? Based on whoever had the best regular season records? Yes, from the start of the standings in 2006 or whatever it was (I didn't start saving the records until 2010 though) we always did that, but it disappeared, because 2013 was no playoffs, 2014 no playoffs, 2015 1 game (which we picked you because of the Tanaka success you had), and 2016 no playoffs. I was totally going to do it for 2017, but I figured it wouldn't be fair because the last month/month and a half some threads were here, some were there plus some days I saw a thread here and a thread there so I wasn't sure who it would be fair to count and whatever. Hopefully this is a start of multiple yankee playoff runs and we can do this again on a regular basis if the forum cooperates. However, if they do make the world series Noetsi should get a start if he ever migrates here, because he was way ahead of everyone before the forum problems. Michcuse and Kaybli were tied at 13 wins a piece and they've done most of the threads here in the playoffs so you can say its mostly going how it should have other than Noetsi not making any.

If there was ever a game thread starter that doesn't deserve to get run support, it's noetsi. Every one in the line up should bunt every time up when ever he starts a game thread. I know I would...LOL...
He reminds me of a cartoon dog that I remember seeing in my extreme youth. He was a very sad dog, "me, oh, my"...

Sonny Gray, 4 postseason games started. ZERO total runs of support.

That would fit in so well with noetsi's negative personna. He could complain about how well he posted, but still didn't get the win because we gave him no run support...about how we should have bunted way back in the second inning...whoa is me...

I can't tell if it's my damned vampire blood or the strain of werewolf in my genetics, but one of them or both is working on me tonight. I had to get back out of bed and I took the rest of my sleeping pill. SO if I start typing crazy stuff on here, just assume I'm being normal... (:

Yankees without Bird 53-50 Yankees with Bird 45-25 (38-21 Regular season, 7-4 post season) Just imagine how many games they would have won if he cared enough about winning to not need surgery.

Factoid - Bird has more hits this year with RISP than with runners not in scoring position. Randy Levine was right, kid has no heart.

Masahiro Tanaka - S - Yankees
Masahiro Tanaka was brilliant on Wednesday, giving up just three hits in seven shutout innings of a 5-0 win over the Astros in Game 5 of the ALCS.
Tanaka was good in Game 1, but that performance pales in comparison to his effort on Wednesday. The only time Houston challenged him was when they had runners on first-and-second with one out in the fifth, but he struck out George Springer and Josh Reddick to end the threat. Long-story-short, Tanaka has pitched like the ace the Yankees paid for this postseason. Game Six will be played in Houston on Friday.

Aaron Judge - OF - Yankees
Aaron Judge went 1-for-3 with a walk while scoring and knocking in one run in the victory over Houston in Game 5 of the ALCS on Wednesday.
Judge did strike out twice, but the Yankees will trade two strikeouts for that production every time. Any doubt that Judge can perform in these kind of situations was foolish to begin with, but he's certainly answered that question over these last two games. He'll go up against Justin Verlander in Game Six on Friday.

Gary Sanchez - C - Yankees
Gary Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI in the Yankees' Game 5 victory over the Astros on Wednesday.
Sanchez had a huge hit in Game 4 on Tuesday that gave the Yankees a 6-4 lead, and he looked like the hitter we've seen for most of the season on Wednesday. When Sanchez is at his best he's using the entire field, and he showed that on his RBI double and monster homer off of Brad Peacock. An already good lineup looks to be getting even stronger as Sanchez works his way out of this slump.

Tommy Kahnle - R - Yankees
Tommy Kahnle recorded the last six outs for the Yankees in their 5-0 victory over the Astros on Wednesday in Game 5 of the ALCS.
Kahnle has been an unsung hero for the Yankees this postseason. In his 10 playoff innings, he's yet to allow a run, and he's struck out nine while walking just two in that time frame. Aroldis Chapman is still the guy who is going to pitch the ninth in save situations, but Kahnle is a very good bridge to get them to him. He should be available to pitch in Game 6 on Friday.

Greg Bird - 1B - Yankees
Greg Bird went 1-for 2 with two walks and an RBI in the Yankees victory over the Astros in Game 5 of the ALCS on Wednesday.
Bird smashed a line-drive single to right-field to knock in Starlin Castro and gave the Yankees a 1-0 lead. Bird has now put up a sensational .308/.550/.615 line in this series, and he's one of the chief reasons the Yankees have a chance to close out the Astros in Game 6 on Friday.
