Work the counts don’t want him going 8 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I agree with you but I think some of our good first pitch hitters like Didi and Judge should let it fly in a few of their at bats. Koo-chel loves throwing first pitch strikes and sometimes it'll be the best pitch to hit of the at-bat. I think the hitters need to assess how he is throwing and if they can work the count. Given the state of the Astros bullpen, an AB that lasts 12 pitches but ends in a SO may actually be more valuable than on that lasts one pitch but ends in a HR.

Right, the Yanks need to get back into that Astro bullpen can't let Keuchel go 7 innings agian.

Which means 20 pitches per inning minimum. If you swing at a first pitch you better be sure it is going to be a hit.

I definitely do not believe major league hitters can succeed taking a strike against a good pitcher like this. I also definitely don’t buy that a 12 pitch strike out is worth more than a one pitch HR. Maybe that was just hyperbole for effect.

One base runner but still an easy inning for Tanaka.

It’s hyperbolic in that it doesn’t address the frequency of either event, but to put it another way I would rather Keuchel leaves the game after 4-5 scoreless innings versus 7+ innings of two run ball. Yankees hitters can do a ton of damage to the middle relief corps. That’s what they need to focus on. 12 pitchers an inning isn’t going to get it done.

It would be nice if we could knock him out. Or if they keep him in too long, which also could happen after last night.

Their starter is great. Ours is just as good. Great job by Tanaka to get out of that.

Tanaka looking sharp so far.

I have to admit that’s a sequence of words I did not expect to read in today’s game thread.
