Sano is injured hasn't played in a month. I think the yankee pitching is way better than the twins pitching. Santana doesn't scare me. I just know that Girardi will be tempted to go with Tanaka against the Twins, but I think that would be a mistake. With Severino pitching tonight, he would go on 7 days rest. However, it APPEARS that Girardi MIGHT go with Tanaka tomorrow- which would slot Tanaka on 6 days rest on October 3 (wild card game night). IMO, it SHOULD be Severino simply because in a one-game series, you can't take the chance. However, I could see how Girardi might conclude that Tanaka should start the Wild Card game- the idea would be to have him go as long as possible- and the first sign of trouble, get him out and put in Green or Warren- and use the deep pen to get through the game. Then, you have Severino for Game 1 against the Indians and if the series goes 5, he could pitch that one too. I know he will be tempted but I really think Girardi can't be dumb enough to go with Tanaka for a one game playoff. He simply gives up too many HRs this year. How can you possibly trust him in a do or die situation? No, it will be Severino. I think he will have a short leash anyway like you said with Green or Warren up at the first sign of danger. Man, I'm nervous already and the game is a week away!

They also switched the rotation as of yesterday its now : Montogomery Severino Gray Tanaka CC No clue for the final regular season game

That's very interesting...

I never heard that either. I always heard that it was 1 game because of TV schedules and potential tie breaker games...

Congrats on the tickets Kay. Really wish I could've caught a game this year. It was tough with everything going on and then getting back to work. I don't get vacation sick days for another week.. had to wait 3 months to get them back. Feels like I been back to work so much longer than 3 months lol. And my work started this crap where they don't give you all your time right away. I'm supposed to get 10 vacation days but I was told I only accrue .5 a month... and Jan 1st they disappear.. so I'm gonna have to figure all this out...

If the game was in Minnesota at Target Field, then I'd consider Tanaka. Great stadium for fly ball pitchers.

What right do you have to even be considered to have caught a game this year? Did you work for it? No! Gary and Austin were out there working their tails off, practicing blocking balls, taking BP in the hot sun, and you...YOU WANT TO CATCH A GAME? How brazen you are...

I never heard that either. I always heard that it was 1 game because of TV schedules and potential tie breaker games... I can't find it much, but here : www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/baseball-adds-additional-wild-card-team-league-creating-sudden-death-playoff-article-1.979244The Daily News first reported in Thursday’s editions that MLB would use a one-game playoff format for the two wild card teams. Selig said each member of his 14-man committee was in favor of a one-game wild card format rather than other alternatives such as a best-of-three. “The only guy that had some concerns about it was me,” Selig said. “It will be dramatic. I just remember the first time YES Network talked about this Jack Curry expanded on this and said that the Best of 3 was thrown around and everyone wanted it to be one game for whatever reason. That pretty much echoes Selig's quote there.

Also the yankees winning their last 2 and the sox losing their last 2 puts the yankees back at 3 behind again. Both teams have 5 left to play. The best they can really hope for is a tie, which is a tricky situation because the loser would play 2 1 game playoffs in 2 consecutive days.

Let's hope the Astros have something to play for in that last series against Boston!

IF we tie the division with Boston, and get a one game playoff at Yankee Stadium on Monday, I would like to see the Yankees start Luis Severino. Chris Sale is slated to pitch the last game of the season on October 1st against Houston, and he would not be available in the division playoff game. If we lose we still have Gray for the WC game.

At Yankee Stadium, Severino should be the choice. If the game was at Target field, Severino still would be the safest option, but Tanaka could be debated. Target Field is tailor made for fly ball pitchers, which is why it was the perfect place for Phil Hughes.

Aside from his first season in Minnesota ... Hughes has been pretty bad. Even his first year wasn't THAT good. So much potential... if only he never got injured in Texas.. what could've been. Do you think it was the injury in Texas or do you just think the Yankees fucked him up?
I can't wait to kick some ass tomorrow!!
