They're saying Sonny Gray for Game 4. Well that puts our two best starters in line to pitch first and pitch twice. I think the home road splits for Tanaka are legit but I get the strategy and you just hope he's enough of a veteran to do what he needs to do to be as effective in Houston as he's been his last couple of starts in NY. I won't second guess this plan, it is sensible. Let's just hope Pickles gets his shit together so we don't have two back to back starts in games 3-4 with starters who can't give the team innings. Also "let's just hope Pickles gets his shit together" is the title of a forthcoming collection of short stories I am working on. Just a coincidence. |

I'm really shocked @ Tanaka pitching the opening game... on the road. Isn't he also pitching on normal rest? Hasn't the "theory" been he pitches better with extra rest at Yankee Stadium? Regardless, Tanaka's been a great pitcher his last two starts, so hopefully we get that Tanaka and he dominates. Mynewhero Tanaka I always call him that in my head for some reason. Okay, I guess lack of sleep from last night is getting to me and now I'm sounding crazy like DO ME. And now I can make rhymes.... My friend used to call Matsui Matt-Sushi.

You want Montgomery to start a game? I doubt it but if hes on the roster again I would guess he gets some work in a 7 game series. Let's say that he doesn't scare me...Especially since we do have a lot of bullpen options and even "tight ass Joe" has shown that he'll get creative with Robertson and Kahnle if he needs to... Another nice, off the wall idea is to start Betances. Man, if he's on and we get two to three innings out him followed by???Montgomery??? Just tell him to treat it like a relief appearance and ram his best fastball down their throats as long as he can...Okay...l'll stop before anyone throws up... |

(At this point in the season) He was very good in the regular season. Also, they really trust the bullpen, I imagine they like CC for 4 innings and bullpen, more than Gray for ? |
