Hah -- I assume this is a reference to the Orioles starting pitcher and the surname he shares with Hermann. Man, I read all of his stuff back in college days--"Magister Ludi" and "Glass Bead Game" and the one about the two monks. Loved it then, doubt I would last ten minutes if I tried to read it now.

Although I suppose we could make a connection to the group that made "Born To Be Wild" and Magic Carpet Ride." If I recall, their lead singer was named John Kay. Maybe a distant relative to "See Ya."

The Pusher...
You know I've smoked a lot of grass O' Lord, I've popped a lot of pills But I never touched nothin' That my spirit could kill
You know, I've seen a lot of people walkin' 'round With tombstones in their eyes But the pusher don't care Ah, if you live or if you die
God damn, the pusher God damn, I say the pusher I said God damn God damn the pusher man
You know the dealer, the dealer is a man With the love grass in his hand Oh but the pusher is a monster Good God, he's not a natural man
The dealer for a nickel Lord, will sell you lots of sweet dreams Ah, but the pusher ruin your body Lord, he'll leave your He'll leave your mind to scream
God damn, the pusher God damn, God damn the pusher I said God damn God, God damn the pusher man
Well, now if I were the president of this land You know, I'd declare total war on the pusher man I'd cut him if he stands, and I'd shoot him if he'd run Yes, I'd kill him with my Bible and my razor and my gun
God damn the pusher God damn the pusher I said God damn God damn the pusher man...

You win the see-gar! Also, for me, college reading. Are you referring to Siddhartha? I also recall reading Demian as well. German and Hess Hermann Hesse

Magic Carpet Ride is my favorite of theirs. One of the greatest driving songs ever! Someone did a remix of that song that was used a while back as a part of a PS2 baseball video game that I would sometimes play at home whole on the recumbent bike or stair master. I’ll have to see if I can find that. Don’t love all cover / remixes but they did a nice job with it.

I’m not usually a remake person, either, but occasionally someone gets it right.

You win the see-gar! Also, for me, college reading. Are you referring to Siddhartha? I also recall reading Demian as well. German and Hess Hermann Hesse I read Siddhartha for my own (not collegiate) benefit many years ago and am 100% certain that George Plimpton “borrowed” many of the attributes of Sidd Finch from the novel. Since the original intent was as an April Fool’s gag, I figured that to be completely acceptable behavior that the original Siddhartha as well as Hesse would readily condone... I felt Hesse handled the character masterfully though I was also disappointed that Siddhartha showed weakness of temptation in seeking wealth for the affections of a woman. But we all have our faults, I suppose. I recall seeing some actor reading Siddhartha in a movie scene once many years ago, but for the life of me cannot recall the movie or who the actor was. In any event, I feel the story to have held a lasting fascination with me, and strongly believe that had I been tested in the Buddhist tradition I may have remained within. But I wssn’t. It is as close to religion as I can get...At that time I had been reading up on atheism and somehow stumbled onto this one...

Voit gets on. He hasn’t hit like last season, but his OBP has continued.

Gary, and the rest of the team: Get a clue and pull the bat out of your gluteal cleft on these 2-strike pitches in the zone. I’ve seen enough of you rung up to last me the rest of the season!!!

Mullins came in batting .105 with a .261 OBP because our dumbass pitchers kept hitting him with pitches last night. How many times did they hit him? Two. But it seemed like seven or eight...
