In some ways, yes. But the point is certainly arguable. A case could be made for Voit. Also for DJLM. For a guy with a small sample size to be mentioned, then you have think about Sanchez.
Maybe even German, though he’s a pitcher. What a tremendous break that he’s matured to this level. Ottavino himself has become the anchor of a bullpen that struggled mightily until the arrival another small sample guy that turned the bullpen around, Kahnle.
The point seems to be that no one has been hot the whole time. Few have played all the time. The MVP of the team is the team itself and a tremendous attitude that they’re carrying onto the field with them...
Power? Sanchez, Voit
Speed? The departed Wade, Gardner, Tauchman, Maybin
Defense? All with the exception of Andujar and Frazier.
Contact hitting? Urshela, DJLM, Maybin
This is team! I think the returning stars will only serve to make it stronger as we lose many of these great fill-ins sadly, and one by one.
Hopefully, we lose them before the bubble bursts, because it will eventually...Actually, I hope we don’t change and become too horribly home run dependent...Contact hitting has created some great comeback play, along with some timely HR hitting...
