You said it, kaybli. I may be forced to speak to the company's ethics board about the way he climbed the ladder and some of the out of bounds ways that he has helped the past people in my position falsify their sales records. He's already given me some "off the record" advice that I would be uneasy to take... Sounds like scum to me. Be careful.

I'd be careful inger... you know what they say about snitching.. Eventually Karma will take care of him on his own.. and it'll bite him harder than you ever could. Just my two cents..

My new boss out here is driving my ass up a wall. I think he has multiple personalities. One day he's positive, the next he's angry and negative. Wow, chsdawolf is your boss? What are the odds....

Would be like him to plant himself here to get dirt on me...
I found out that I have four district managers that all have little respect for him and are backing me, so I'm just going to do like the sierch-man said and chill out quietly on an official level. There are things I will be saying to him when he has his little immature hissy-fits though...He likes to hint that you might not be working for him for long...I will remind him that works both ways and also not to pull a gun on anyone unless he's ready to pull the trigger. He got a bit personal the other day too, and that is a nice opening for me to make sure that he stays out of my personal shit...And I've done that kind of stuff enough over the years that I can say all those things with just enough sugar on them to piss him off, but not give him ammunition...
In other words...He can fornicate his own ass...

Also, "So sweet of you to say so." In effect, I refuse to take the emotional bait or to respond in kind. Keeps assholes off balance, and if they attempt to put my words in writing...it won't work....reads like a compliment. Plus, it gets laughs from colleagues, which marginalizes the jerk's authority and respect. Threat, intimidation and pulling rank are not characteristics of leadership...quite the opposite. Take the high and humorous road.

So...getting back to bonus babies...Since the Yankees had already signed Leja and Carroll (and could ill-afford to carry THREE bonus babies) they took a different tactic in May of 1955 when the Yankee GM contacted his friend who happened to be the GM of the KC A's and convinced him to draft one Cletis Boyer. Boyer was placed on the A's roster and used sparingly for the first two years of his career and then was added to a multi-player deal the following season and wound up in NY with a part of his "seasoning" completed. It was another couple of seasons before the Yankees deemed Boyer ready for MLB action and promoted him full-time to the major leagues...
Shenanigans...who would have thought our Yankees would do such an evil thing???
Boyer became an important piece with his slick fielding at third base during several Yankee pennant winning seasons...

Getting back to the Bonus Babies...Many of the players that were so selected were hindered by sitting on a MLB bench for two years when they should have been playing, "being developed" as it were. Somehow Sandy Koufax and Harmon Killebrew were able to weather the storm and developed into Hall of Fame players...Koufax was never sent to the minor leagues after his "bonus" years, even though he often frustrated the Dodgers while they awaited his development...

For you older guys that had baseball card collections...Why were there ALWAYS so many cards for Wayne Causey? Causey was a bonus baby for the Orioles in '55 and '56. If we count a handful of AB he got in '57, his total Orioles ledger reads: Year Tm PA G AB R H 2B/3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS OPS+ TB GDP HBP SH SF IBB 1955-1957 BAL 310 135 273 23 51 2 2 2 14 0 1 30 50 .187 .270 .231 .501 41 63 3 2 3 2 3
He did become a regular in the peak years of his career from ages 26-28, and overall was not a bad player, with an 11-year career and a .252 lifetime BA with 35 HR...But somebody at TOPPS loved this guy soooo much!!!
It seemed like ever other pack or so of cards I bought would net me another Wayne Causey, year after year. The uniform changed, but every year, there he was. Another 15 Wayne Causeys...Worthless as wampum...Worthless as he was on the Baltimore roster from 1955-1957...The bonus baby rule was one of the worst-contrived rules in the history of the game. Worse than 9 balls for a base on balls...

In other words...He can fornicate his own ass... Hey, I wanted to go back to this subject because this guy truly floored me when he came back to me and apologized for his behavior... I either misjudged him, or he's trying to move a little cat litter over his mistake. I'm still going to be cautious with him, but his apology does get him some points with me... On the other hand, he was in the same town I was in on the last possible day that he could give me my evaluation...and he did it via phone call...Still an odd duck. The eval wasn't too bad, but in any situation where he could use the excuse that he doesn't know me well enough to really say, he docked me points. So, if you don't know and admit that, why would you assume the negative instead of at least assuming average performance??? Cuckoo-cuckoo-cuckoo... Damn, I need to retire...damned mid-life divorce...(oh well, THAT was worth it)...

You said it, kaybli. I may be forced to speak to the company's ethics board about the way he climbed the ladder and some of the out of bounds ways that he has helped the past people in my position falsify their sales records. He's already given me some "off the record" advice that I would be uneasy to take... INGER: I have learned the following:
1. When you can no longer look at yourself in the mirror (in regards to your Boss, Job or Questionable Activities at your place of Employment) than it is time to speak the TRUTH (Save/Protect Your Integrity) and than move ON, for life is way too short.
This happen to me in 1998 when I left a Company that I helped form (Four Founding Partners) because of many questionable activities...I was making $30,000.00/month plus a Car Expense of $5,000/month (that I took in cash via payroll); the best medical plan possible, a real good 401K Plan, plus big yearly bonuses, etc. etc. etc.
However, I couldn't LOOK at myself in mirror any longer knowing what I knew about these Questionable Activities...so I did a long exit letter and left.
It was a real tough decision = The $$$ vs. My Integrity. But after weeks of thinking about and seeing & knowing nothing was going to change, I quit in the middle of a buyout of our firm (I still got the buyout--legally they had no choice in regards to this).
Everyone thought I was crazy, but at least I was able to look at myself in the mirror...once again (very important).
2. I coach young adults (18-35) and middle-age adults (35-55) to always be building a "F..K You Fund" (Investments, pay down your mortgage or just rent and pay off all credit cards monthly & do not buy unnecessary STUFF); so when certain situations arise at work, you can walk into your bosses' office and say, "F..K You!"
To this day I have no regrets, even though I left Hundreds of Thousands of $$$ behind in future Pay & Bonuses.
Tequila, however still holds this against me...go figure.

Polly wants a cracker. No, Polly actually wants a pack of crackers. No...she really wants the whole box. Well, she really wants a whole truck load. Actually what she wants is the entire factory filled with crackers so when she finishes eating all the crackers she can lease the warehouse out to assure there will be more money to buy her more crackers...
Frank Zappa:
Eat Your Shoes You can even eat The box You bought 'em in You can even eat The Truck That brought 'em in
