Plutko is a bit of a mystery to me. It’s not easy to get info on him. He was 29-8 in his career at UCLA, so BMOC...When he emerged from college he was topping out at 96, but I understand he sits more 92-94 theses days with a 4 seamer that he throws about 60% of the time to set up his strikeout pitch, which is his slider. He finds the middle of the plate a bit too often with his FB. He also features a change that he mixes in for strikes that misses over the plate at times as well.
He throws all three pitches for strikes, but when he gets cocky he’ll throw in the occasional curve ball that he doesn’t control well. That pitch can be interesting, as it misses off the plate and over the middle.
There’s little to lead me to believe the Yanks will have difficulty hitting this young man today...
