Mike Ford just found out that playing in the minor leagues doesn't prepare you for catching popups in this dump of a stadium. Nice play by the rook. This stadium is a down-grade from what he’s used to. Amazing the lights have stayed on all day... The Yanks had to play Mother's Day and the 4th of July in this place....doesn't seem right.

we totally disagree on bunts. When there is a 70 percent chance of getting an out anyway and bunt moves someone into scoring position bunts are very useful. And you just decreased your chances of scoring by giving away an out. If you were going to get an out anyway in all probability while not moving the runner over nothing is different. Except you have a player at first rather than second.

Ottavino allowing only 5.7 hits per nine, but 6.2 bb per nine...

I still believe in the value of the bunt when it’s employed judiciously. The problem is that each individual is going to define judiciously differently.
If you say it never makes sense to bunt, then there is no judicious situation. If you think it’s always the right play, you would bunt all the time.
Somewhere in between is the proper usage. Remember also that the bunt works best with perfect execution, and is best defended when expected.
There are a lot of pieces to the decision...

I agree, very late in a tie game, go ahead run at 2B, weak hitter at the plate....go ahead and bunt.

Gary Sanchez is amazing to watch when he’s hot. Right now he is certainly nowhere near to hot. He’s 4 for his last 38 (.105) and he looks like he’ll never get another hit...

Two left handed hitters reach against Chapman, which is surprising.

What was a great pitched game for 8 innings has turn into a disaster in the 9th inning.

Chapman sucks tonight, it seems. Waste of a good ballgame.
