There is no record of Johnny Pesky ever having hit a home run off that foul pole named for him. Only 6 of Pesky’s 17 career HR were hit in Fenway. Odd.
Mel Parnell, one time Sox pitcher and broadcaster is said to have creased a legend that Pesky had won a game for him once by hitting a HR off the pole. The record shows that Pesky did hit one HR while Parnell was pitching, but that HR was in the first inning (no notation was made of the foul pole) in a game the Red Sox eventually won in 14 innings and in which Parnell did not factor in the decision.
I guess the Red Sox need SOMETHING to hold on to back then...

More bad luck as Judge scolds a ball for a DP. Well, if it's going to act that way, the ball needed to be scolded.

They need to make some changes to replay. That was too long when it was obvious there was nothing there to reverse the call.

Yanks get lucky. He looked safe to me. I thought he was out, so the right decision was made if the two of us cannot decide with the benefit of replay.

First replay on NESN was clear he was out. They never showed that angle again as the crew talked about how he was safe. Even after the call was upheld as out they didn’t go back to the replay that showed him as out. #FakeNews
